Heeeyy :)
So I'm being bugged to get a hair cut, I think I really do need one because ive got spilt ends and my hair is quite wirey.

So I have not come out yet and my hair is quite long, so I need a haircut that is still going to be boyish, but I would love it to have a little but of a girly look to if possible. I have no idea what I can do with it to be honest. I don't want to cut much off, because I want it longer. So some ideas would be great thanks. My hair is about shoulder length.

Thankss :)

The best thing to do is discuss it with the hairdresser. Most of them tend to be very open, they want the business. The reason is that they will have good ideas of what works to your facial shape. Besides when you start getting past your shoulders there is really no such thing as a boys cut lol

I think it was legit for boys to have ponytails, so maybe a trim and pull it into a ponytail.  This kind of is outdated as a fashion thing and typically leads towards 'bad boy' style...but, pre-cut you probably can still see how it'd turn out anyway, right? ^^ So, you can do something satisfactory and still be satisfying for yourself! =O

Scene or "emo" cuts for boys tend to be a bit girly. you can look into that.

Yea, I would do this. But I think my mum will come with me when I get it done, so this makes it hard.

Thanks everyone :)

Very true! My hairstyle is basically the same as it was pre-transition. The only difference is now it's a bit blonder lol. I've worn my hair long since high school, basically the same way because it's versatile. Once I cut it into a fringe cut but let that grow back out. Long hair can be left natural, curled, or straightened as desired for a lot of different looks. Once it's cut however it's kind of locked into one style.

And if I were your age I'd totally dye mine hot pink lol

Going back a few years ago, I had a hot pink mohawk :P

Yea, I find it hard to have long hard at the moment, it really needs some type of style to it. My hair just goes so curly and then it looks scruffy! Drives me nuts!!!  Also straightening my hair does not work either because it just goes curly 10min later :P

About 4 years ago I started letting my hair grow out.  id ocasionally  get a trim.  During the first 6 or 7 months I was teased/harassed about my hair.  I finally asked my boss to stop them.  During the talk he would not acknowlegde that it was more than teasing.   It did stop and now I have been wearing my hair in a ponytail at work.  I do get a trim every so often.  My stylist works on TG  hair all the time.   She knows that I need to wear it as a male and be able to wear it as a girl when I dress.

Emo definitely does it... I started growing my hair out two years before HRT and did emo styles to cover up what I was doing.  Even wore it to work (the second picture was actually taken while I was at work).  Because of the emo thing and because I worked as a university tutor with no dress code, I could do this look daily.  Both of these pics are 2-3 months before HRT:

Then the same type of look, slightly longer hair, 1.5 months HRT, and the day after I came out for the first time:  (And yes, I'm really this pale)

As far as the style goes, I got a few ma'ams before I even went on HRT, but nothing like I get now.  So I'd say this haircut was pretty girly but also boy enough to pass as male when I needed.

I'm letting my hair grow out too and have been getting harassed about it.  I was trying to tie it in a ponytail, but the sides are just about an inch short, so have had to use a pin on each side.  I've seen quite a few guys with pony tails, but they tend to be older.  You can have a real clean cut with a tight pony tail.  My brother had one for years (though he had the sides shorter) but tucked it up under his hat at work and most people never new he had long hair - and he worked in a restaurant!  The other day I did see a younger guy with real bushy hair and he actually was using a plastic hair band.

Recently I started using LA Colors Cashmere Curls gel.  My hair is very curly when wet but dries wavy.  This product keeps the curls, but they are softer than using hair spray.  Several people have asked me if it is a perm or gel.  I get ribbing from the guys, but I'm starting to like it, plus its easy to take care of.  Just a little spritz of water, a little fluffing, and I'm ready to go.
