so the title read "surgery" but on the actual vote it says genital surgery so i voted no. for top surgery i definitely would! i can't wait to get rid of these things! but bottom surgery? the risks  :-\  I'd have to do a WHOLE LOT of research before i consider that.

Kia Ora Kate,

::)  Joshua Greene professor Princeton University =philosopher + neuroscientist...

Might I suggest you start a similar topic in the "philosophy" section Kate...

Kia Ora from the West Island  :D

My first reaction is "like a shot!"
And upon reflection of what is actually involved and the ramifications, my answer is, "like a shot!!"

Interesting as it turns out 99% of us girls say YES! And --- so do I, given the few important caveats like surgeon quality and PLEASE, not being someone's slave, sex or otherwise.

Our boys are far less enthusiastic as all say: no thank you. Food for thought? Aye :-)

Ok, I know at least in THAT department we (MtFs) seem to do mostly a tad better.
And otherwise? "What we can't feel, we ultimately don't understand".

Still my answer is a clear YES!

Still evading a straight answer!

Why I choose my Mom?  "Back during the "The cultural revolution in China" I witness Daughter betraying their fathers, and spouse betraying their Spause, but I  never witness a Mother betraying her children"

That is why my dear zenda I pick my Mother.

Peace,

Kate D

I find your answer quite interesting. Most parents would choose their child, luckily this is just a hypothetical.  ::)

This is correct.

That. I don't and can't :'( have an offspring, but I'll choose my kid if I did in an answer to such a hypothetical question. Though in reality, I think what would actually happen is whoever is closest. Most people I don't think will skip over other friends and relatives thinking "they can die as I'll have to get to my kid/spouse/parent first".

This one is a very tough one to answer for me.
One, nothing is ever free. There is always a price to pay, even if it is later on down the road.
Two, it would depend on the surgeon.
Three, I want SRS just as much as any girl. I want to finally be right. But I am only 4 months into HRT. I am taking my baby steps in womanhood. I am not ready. And I am more concerned with raising my children, one of whom doesn't understand why his father is becoming a woman.
If it was meant to be, it would be when I was ready 100%.

yes, with some reservations of course. first of all the result has to be truly satisfactory, which means much better than any could manage today (i wouldn't want any of the current options for ftm surgery), secondly it would have to include getting rid of these two unnecessary lumps on my chest

Without any hesitation at all-Yes I would have it. Today I would like to do it myself but will defer to someone with a sharper knife and steadier hands.

Top surgery? Hell yes, of course! I don't even care if my curves are out of place, I'd be showing that ->-bleeped-<- off all day! ;D If in this hypothetical situation, my mom magically for a day would let me, then it'd be brilliant. I don't care if people think it's weird. It's just one less thing to worry about.

Meta, no, because I'm pre-T and therefore would get nothing out of it.

I would not for several reasons.  First of all, I am not planning on getting bottom surgery, as the available options do not seem to be much of a step up over what T will do.  Also I know it would hurt my family if they were to find out that I had done so without as much as being out to them.  However, if we were talking top surgery that might be worth a late night phone call to let them know what's up.
Oh I'm a lucky man to count on both hands the ones I love

Purely because I believe nothing really comes for free,
and I don't like feeling indebted to people...

I answered yes meaning I am 100% mentally and emotionally
prepared to go under the knife but ^this^ haunts my pysche.
What's in it for them? How would I have to degrade myself?

If I lived on a desert island, yeah. But as I live in a social context and am not out to most people, it would be irresponsible of me. Murrh, I regret not hypothetically having my surgery paid for lol

Why irresponsible?  no one has to know your surgery status. Unless you are talking about needing time off work to recoup.

No, there are still some things to sort out.  I don't have any animosity towards the gonads, especially after everything has quieted down there.  A female bottom would be nice though.

Kia Ora,

::) To ease the mental anguish that some have expressed about there being a catch because "There's no such thing as a free lunch !"

What if it was a philanthropist who offered this to you out of the kindness of their heart ?
