Bill Hunter, the Australian actor who played a mechanic who couples up with a transgender woman in the movie Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, has died, aged 71.

In the movie a troupe of urban drag performers become stranded when their bus breaks down in the outback. Bob, a rural mechanic played by Hunter, repairs the bus and travels onward with the artistes, later falling for the sardonic transgender woman Bernadette, played by Terence Stamp.
