I'm in the worst pain of my life! I had my wisdom teeth (all 4) taken out yesterday. My face ballooned up and swelled real bad (the painful kind of swelling), my mouth hurts, and I can't go to school because of it. My spiro is too big for me to swallow right now too, ugh!!!!

Now I'm bedridden and taken my prescribed hydrocodone, which only lasts a short time and I don't want to take too much of it  :'(

sorry to hear that...I remember having my wisdom teeth taken out roughly 30 years ago.  My swelling came from being too stubborn to stay in bed, precisely because I *DIDN'T* have pain.  Swelled up like a chipmunk a few hours later after having gone outside to do something silly like wash the car...

Bland diet afterwards really sucked as well since there was the worry of either opening up the sutures or getting bits of real food caught in the socket.

ouch o.o. Why not remove them one at a time? Thats how I had it done at the dental college.

Just a suggestion you can try.

When you're alone, concentrate on the pain. Do this slowly, gradually focusing on the exact point of the pain. The urge to ignore it is quite strong, but since you already know that doesn't really work you can't do much more harm by concentrating on it.

When you've done that, get back sometime and say what happens next. :)

Doing it one at a time seems like it would be more downtime and a longer period of discomfort to me plus the unpleasantness of waking up from anesthesia

Oh yeah, that's no fun. I was never in much pain but I went absolutely crazy worrying about dry socket for the first day or so. Keep those clots intact!

Today I woke up with a mouthful of blood and more pain. I just now developed large bruises on the lower half of my face. I can't eat much and I feel like I'm literally dying.

Okay that was kind of melodramatic, I'm nowhere close to dying but I just feel bad.

Also try placing a wet tea bad between the teeth.  Yes you will have to bite down lightly.

Have you called a dentist?

Yeah I tried using a tea bag. My oral surgeon said what I'm going through is to be expected and that I should continue taking my antibiotics and hydrocodone as needed. I know others that got their wisdom teeth removed by him and some even say they had minimal pain and swelling. I got the short end of the stick!
