I recently had another blood test and my E levels are still lower than the 200 target I hear we are supposed to be at. My doc said the E at 76 was fine but it concerns me. When I was on injections my E was over 200. I switched to orals and my next test came back way lower so he increased my dosage to twice the mg of what any other TS I know is taking. When I got the latest test done it was a 76 which surprised me. I have started dissolving them under my tongue to see if that helps on my next blood test but if not I may have to go back to injections, which I don't really want to do. My T levels went up because I stopped taking my anti-androgens due to performance issues. I have started them again at a lower dosage to try and find find a "workable" level

March 7th - 1st Test - Injections
E 268 pg/ml
T - Not Tested

April 25th - (Standard oral dose)
E26.8 pg/ml
Serum T 15 ng/dl
Free T 0.5 pg/ml

June 27th (double the normal oral dose)
E 76.6 pg/ml
Serum T 481 ng/dl
Free T 8.6  pg/ml

Looking at my last test in Jan. 2011 I had: 734 pmol/l Estradiol (again I don't know how to translate this into ng/ml)

Noted range by lab said < 208 pmol/l estardiol,  and it may well be as mentioned earlier "normal" or even menopause level?

My T was 3 pmol lab range given: 180 - 419 pmol/l which obviously is male range (the lab folks where a bit confused, had asked me about the estradiol --- not many TSs in my area for sure)

Also I am told that being pregnant the estradiol levl goes quite easily above 2000 pmol/l... so?

Progesterone was 0.8 nmol/l and lab range given: 0.7 - 4.7 nmol/l

Go figure...

For those that asked about progesterone boosting libido. I was taking Depo-Provera injections prescribed by my doctor and my libido shot through the roof!!!!! I didn't like it all! I was always switched on. I also started getting body hair coming back and so after about two months or so, I stopped it.

I'm now on Finasteride as well so I started taking the Depo-Provera injections again on my own, in hopes that the Finasteride will counter the Depo's hair production.

Conversion algorithms (divide SI units to get US units, conversely multiply US units to get SI units):

Component Conventional Unit Conversion Factor SI Unit

Estradiol           pg/mL            3.671                  pmol/L

Progesterone    ng/mL            3.18                     nmol/L

Testosterone     ng/dL            0.0347                  nmol/L

An interesting nomogram can be found here http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/cb/Blood_values_sorted_by_mass_and_molar_concentration.png

Hope this helps, cheers, Petra

I had excellent hearing before Provera.  After Provera I experienced trouble hearing one person in a crowd.  My brain could no longer distinguish one voice among many.   I stopped taking Provera and told my endo.  She said I was just old and my hearing was deteriorating.   I tested my hearing and it was O.K. for a single soft sound.  I lost hearing at picking one voice among many!  I noted that problem among other TG's taking Provera.

I did not find an increase in libido or hair growth.  However I have only loved one person in my life and that person finds me repulsive sexually but still loves me as a person.  Maybe I am asexual but maybe I am not.

No luck in getting any hair to grow back on my receding hairline.  I found avodart (dutesteride) to be best at stopping DHT.  A condition that is unknown at this site was present with me.  50% of genetic males have enlarged prostate over 40.  Yep I am over 40 and dutesteride shrunk prostate.  Avodart derivatives are best at lowering DHT.  I heard that hair growth over 50 is minimal when using DHT reducing drugs.  I fit those findings.
