Unexpected on a train

Padma

I was heading back home this afternoon after meeting up in town with one of the trans women from my support group. I was sitting on the train, fiddling with my phone (like you do) and the conductor, who had already checked my ticket earlier, was making another ticket-checking pass through our carriage, stopped by me, and said "Have I seen your ticket, miss?" I looked up and she remembered she had, and smiled at me.

This fascinates me - I've quite often seen her on the train, and she me, and she's just suddenly decided to go with the female title off her own bat. As far as I'm aware, I wasn't looking any more female today than usual (I wear women's clothes, but they're at the more male end of the spectrum) so I don't know what prompted this, but I liked it :).

Congratulations, Padma. Why can't more people be like this?  I was kind of shocked when there was an article on Chaz Bono and his break up with his fiancee and there were only about 7 comments, but every single one was negative if not downright nasty.  I was also surprised that most were from women.  I don't know, but I expect women to be more understanding about trans issues.

Always great to read about experiences like that, Padma. Maybe you didn't notice the small changes because you see yourself every day :)

Sonopoly, from my experience with women, they can be the most cruel creatures on Earth.

Aww.. that's really sweet of her :)
To dream of the person you would like to be is to waste the person you are.
