Letter giving therapists in the Sydney area

So I know an MTF desperate to transition, problem is she doesn't really know many people in the sydney (australia) area to see, and I'm new to sydney also so I don't know either.

I was wondering if anyone here from the sydney area knows good GP's and psych's to go to in terms of getting a letter of recommendation to start hormone therapy.

Preferably a psych who isn't the type to string you along for years at a time rather than giving a letter to someone who's obviously desperate and ready to receive one.

She's already self medicating and I'm really worried about what she'll do if she looses access to her supplier.

Anyone with personal experiences in the sydney area, it would be really great to hear any recommendations.

I am in country Victoria, so can't recommend anyone specifically, but I started by looking up the Gender Centre on the web and the Sydney one came up.  She could also try searching for the "Good ->-bleeped-<- Guide",( similar to the Age "Good Food Guide" believe it or not). Good value as it covers a lot of topics and regions.

There is a lot of info out there, just have to sift it.

The Gender Centre at Petersham (link in above thread) will be able to help her in the right direction and recommend a good psych.  Unfortunately there are very few in Sydney who fully understand transgender issues.

Thanks for the help everyone however she's already been to the gender center.

From what she's told me, they were the ones who initially got her the highly unhelpful psych and refuse to do more than give one referral to one psych at any given time.

I was hoping someone might know somebody more specific.

I have PMed you the details of two specific GPs at the Darlinghurst Medical Centre and the name of a Psychiatrist based in the CBD. Anyone else who would like their details I am happy to PM you but I don't want to publish their names without their permission.

It feels good to finally be able to share some useful and valuable knowledge to help someone.

Mmmm, typical don't know whats going on at that place...... I will PM you a very good psych, very experienced with TG's.  Just need a referral from a GP which is easy to get.
