Transgender McFatter senior crowned prom queen

They've bullied and taunted her, calling her names and writing on her locker.

And now, the seniors at McFatter Technical High School have elected Andrew Viveros their 2011 prom queen.

"They called my name and I was in total shock,'' said Andrew, a 17-year-old who was born male but has publicly presented herself as female for the last two years.

Transgender teen Andrew Viveros, 17, was crowned prom queen on Friday at the Hyatt Regency Pier 66 in Fort Lauderdale.

Viveros, a graduating senior at McFatter Technical High School in Davie, said he wasn't sure he would win.

McFatter seniors who voted Friday night also chose a prom king: Juan Macias, a 17-year-old gay male senior.

My understanding of the way these things work is that the prom king and queen are elected by those elegable to attend.

This result demonstrates that those who tormented this woman are just a bunch of loud mouthed thugs. Just as in Texas where, apparently most people have no problems wth transgender nor with gay marriages. It's only the loud mouthed thugs who dominate the political scene there.
