My skin (lips and chin) needed two weeks between sessions to thoroughly and completely calm down. I requested and my electrologist agreed to work on my lips and chin on alternating weeks. That way, she was not treating the same area in seven days, but waiting fourteen days, while I was still visiting her every week. After just over five months, there's a lot more bare skin than hairs to be removed, but every-other-week treatments are still necessary for those few pesky, troublesome, hard-to-kill hair follicles. Most electrologists will tell you, it requires from nine to twelve months to effectively treat all of the hair follicles in an area, because they grow on completely different cycles.
Another item that has helped tremendously with my skin is using the
Insulated Bulbous Probe (IBP) manufactured by
Laurier Instruments . This needle focuses the thermolysis energy at the bottom of the follicle, rather than along the entire length of the needle. This results in less surface skin reactions and more effective treatment of the follicle, using lower energy levels.
