I started electro in february, one hour a week. I takes her an hour to get my face 'clean'. I did laser for years so the hairs that are still there are mainly white/grey. I thought that the results of electro were good, until I missed an appointment a couple of weeks ago.. After two weeks all hairs had grown back and the next appointment I needed two hours of treatment instead of one hour. I know that one has to be patient to see results, but what I'm really concerned about is what electro is doing to my skin. It's ruining my skin, especially in the neck area. I've already switched to 3 hours every 3 weeks instead of 1 hour every week just to see if the longer pause will be better for my skin. I'm just affraid that my skin will get ruined permanently.

I'm very tempted now to quit electro, but unfortunately for white hairs there doesn't seem to be an alternative. I also don't wanna end up with a ruined skin and broke and still hairs growing though..

Two questions:

If your skin reacted badly to electro: did you skin return to normal once you finished electro?

How long did it take before you saw results of electro?

Thanks :)

I think you need to try a new electrologist, I have seen 3 different people until I found someone I was happy with. Also your skin should return to normal after a while if you are taking care of it, you just need to let it rest.

Are they using blend where they have you hold a steel bar or place it on your body or is it thermo which is just pure heat. Blend is better and do double inserts to kill the folicle dead verse trying to clear face. Shave to get others and do blend on fatest hairs first with double inserts and do scattered blend where they go all over the face going after the fatest hairs and then after they slough off hair they go in again to kill folicle dead and you can be done much faster with less heat. It creates a lye in skin and use tend skin afterwards. Sheesh i can't believe i remembered this after 14 yrs

blend is a combo of Thermolysis and Galvanic. which one of the three is best is going to be different for everyone.

My skin (lips and chin) needed two weeks between sessions to thoroughly and completely calm down.  I requested and my electrologist agreed to work on my lips and chin on alternating weeks.  That way, she was not treating the same area in seven days, but waiting fourteen days, while I was still visiting her every week.  After just over five months, there's a lot more bare skin than hairs to be removed, but every-other-week treatments are still necessary for those few pesky, troublesome, hard-to-kill hair follicles.  Most electrologists will tell you, it requires from nine to twelve months to effectively treat all of the hair follicles in an area, because they grow on completely different cycles.

Another item that has helped tremendously with my skin is using the Insulated Bulbous Probe (IBP) manufactured by Laurier Instruments .  This needle focuses the thermolysis energy at the bottom of the follicle, rather than along the entire length of the needle.  This results in less surface skin reactions and more effective treatment of the follicle, using lower energy levels.

I go once a week. Blend method, and my skin is usually back to normal in about 3 hours +/-. Ice packs help out a bunch though. It sounds like you might need to find a new electrologist... electro is more an "art form" than laser. You really need to have plenty of experience and know what you are doing. Especially since most techs are used to working only on biological females.
