Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for opponents of the Transgender Equal Rights Bill (H. 502/S. 764) to promote bigotry and discrimination against transgender persons by engaging in shameless, uninformed fear-mongering.

They want you to equate being transgender with being gay or lesbian, or with being a pedophile, or with being against family values.

They want you to be transphobic. I suspect the insidious influence of the Massachusetts Family Institute at work here.

The Transgender Equal Rights Bill would outlaw discrimination based on gender identity and expression and amend existing hate crime laws to explicitly protect citizens targeted for violence and harassment because of their gender-related identity, appearance, expression or behavior.
