I'm sure we all have a fear or two to share. I would like to see if anyone is willing to share there's?

Mine has to be bees and spiders. If a spider is in my room, I'll eek. If a bee is in my room, I'll bounce away. My room is pretty tiny & bees have been known to like stinging me. – It's funny how I'm not fazed by wasps though xD

Lol, funny you should start this thread, I was just thinking about this very thing. Bees and wasps are my phobias. I could pet spiders all day, and snuggle up to snakes, whatever else. But put me in a room with a bee or a wasp in it and one of two things will happen: I'll either run out like my hair is on fire (possibly screaming like a child depending on the size) OR sit there paralyzed, mentally shouting at the buzzy little critter not to come anywhere near me.

Needles ... I just can't seem to give myself a shot --- I can only imagine what it's going to be like to start T.  I currently take insulin and the needles are tiny & I still can't do it.

Sephirah, you don't let spiders come in and out of your house as they see fit do you? Please tell me you at least catch them and put them outside, ha.

Rob, i'm not such a big fan of needles myself. Just the other day i had to be numbed up at the dentist. While he we sticking needles into my gums i had my fist clenched and i needed to keep reminding myself i can't hit him >.<.

I don't like clowns or balloons. I have only been to the circus once (the first clown I saw was one to many) and I have never taken my 2 daughters. My Mom knows about this so she takes them to the circus for me  :embarrassed: . I can blow up balloons for a kids party (now, after 16 years) but I can feel be pulse racing as I do it.

Bees. I was stung by a bee when I was ten years old. Severe allergy to their stings. I've successfully avoided them for the last 23 years. I'm good with most spiders. I take the majority of them outside if I find them in my house, although I killed a young female black widow that was in my sink last year. I didn't want to try catching that one & make a mistake.

riding escalators? They don't seem scary, but I can not get on one when it is running.

Needles, for me.  I can get a shot and be reasonably fine, but I can't look at the needle while it's happening. I can't watch anyone else getting one either.

I'm not very afraid of most bugs, but I'm terrified of cockroaches for some reason. I've seen spiders too big to catch in a coffee cup and just said "Huh,  that's a pretty big one", but one little roach on the floor will send me across the room screaming...

Needles, heights, and spiders
Though oddly enough my fear of heights seems to have gotten better fairly recently.

My mother is terrified of balloons, and I always thought that she was the only one.  The things you learn.  ::)

I had a fear of needles for years but one day I realized they didn't really bother me much anymore

I had a pretty bad reaction the last time I got a bee sting so there is a degree of fear there... Otherwise I think bees are cute  :)

My fear of spiders is limited to a select few spiders because their bites are dangerously toxic

Heights.

Needles are easy. I work in a lab and occasionally have to bleed myself as a 'normal' control. Always make me laugh. People have fainted watching me
Remember if you have a bad reaction to a bee or wasp sting see you Dr, you can get a really bad, life threatening response to future ones and my need to carry an adrenalin shot with you. Believe it or not more people die in Australia from bee stings than shark attacks. And we have lots of sharks.

I have a fear of bees, wasps and heights.  Another fear I have is going up escalators, i'm fine going down but going up I always feel like I could fall backwards.

Ah, Nathan's 'fall backwards' comment made me remember another one.
I am not normally afraid of heights. For whatever reason though, if there's an edge or a railing, I feel like I'll fall over if my back faces it. So whenever there's a potential drop-off, I can always be found either well away from it, or looking at it at least peripherally.

Me too, I never know what to tell people, I am not afraid of heights per se, I feel like I have more control if I am far away from the railing or at least facing it.

Also a hate feeling abandoned, like if I am talking to someone and walking with them in the grocery store for example, and they fall back where I can't see them, there is always this tinge of fear. I have mostly conquered this one. I still have to keep glancing at people I can't see to make sure they are still walking with me though.

and of course spiders and, bees scare me, cops scare me too, they are just so intimidating.

Dead bodies scare me more than anything. I can't go to funerals and constantly fear that something will happen and I will be the person to first discover that a person has died.
I am also terrified of heights, and despite not actually being scared of blood I physically react like someone with a severe aversion to blood (faint, dizziness, nausea at the sight of blood).

UFO's :) when I was a little girl I always feel fear when I lied on the bed alone in the dark room, becouse I saw a lot of films and newspaper posts about UFO's and I always tought: tonight they are come for me :)

Needles and incisions.  I have full on needle phobia, BP drop the lot.  Same with watching a surgical incision through the skin.   Blood itself doesn't bother me, and I can watch video of an operation once they have finished the initial incision.  Very strange combination.

Snakes and spiders don't worry me. My house often has infestations of very dead, very flat spiders.
And snakes are safe unless they are close to, or in the house. Then they get to meet the snake collector, or my long handled shovel!

Karen.
PS - anyone want any Redback Spiders, going cheap!!
