An element of contentment that I have out of the story is from an angle I have not seen here yet, namely that the girl's election/selection did not result in a knee jerk vomit session by the school or local civic authorities. The teeth behind the grins of the adult chaperons and school administrators may have been grinding themselves flat, but there were no Federal Troops necessary to enforce the girl's ascendency to the honorary and totall in effective office. If the incident instills pride in a community for their having realized that more than just the proper type of child gets these honors, and that their community is better off for the happiness of ALL their young people, then it is NOT a loss to any part, whether umbrella pole or umbrella ribs or the silk on them of the transgender statistical population. Lets just be happy the young lady is happy.
