Hi Morganae - welcome!!!

I'm not an expert on this, but I am pretty sure there are threads here discussing it and there are a few here who have taken full advantage of this (I just can't, at this moment recall who - sorry!) but there are spots that do these mega sessions of electrolysis  - you go in and get sedation and you get a complete facial clearing.

It's pricey, and you need to travel for it, but the advantage is it's not traveling weekly which would be impractical, instead it would be something you'd need to block off 3-4 days for. I do think you need to do it a few times (hair grows in cycles), and I do not know if insurance covers it... but as Lori said, you might have some options there.

But this might be an avenue to explore in terms of a way to find a provider.

Just a thought!

Love,
Allie

Quote from: morganae on Today at 02:42:00 AMIs there anyone here that might be able to point this girl to ANYWHERE in Iowa or the surrounding states that takes insurance?  Even if it's out of network, it's still better than paying it all out of pocket!

I have been searching for such a provider for years. Many will not do genital clearing, or work on a "man", and of those that will they all want payment at the time of service (cash or credit card). Since the VA covers me as a disabled veteran, the best I can do at the moment is pay for the service with my credit card, and then apply for reimbursement. That might be an option for you too. I had to take out a personal loan from my bank for eye surgery but did not get reimbursed because it was "cosmetic" surgery. Will your insurance reimburse you if you pay upfront?

If so, but you can't pay upfront, check out the Jim Collins Foundation. You can apply for a grant to cover the costs. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

Talked to my therapist and she agreed that I was fine to drop to every other month sessions. That means I can start electrolysis again, and I did so yesterday afternoon.

I found someone local, costs more per session but easier to schedule and closer to me so an easier drive. She finished, for the most part, my lower neck that the previous electrologist thinned out.  Very comfortable session with just a healthy dose of 10.5% lidocaine.  She will provide a stronger numbing cream when it's time to do lips and goatee area.  Apparently she also does pre-surgery clearing. I doubt I need any more of that but it's nice to know.

Recovery is easy. Ice pack last night, healing lotion today. You can see it in a photo, not too bad though.

No internet connection this morning, back after doing a bit on the Austin and its working again (3 pm).
Anyways beef curry doing in the slow cooker, had to seal the beef first then fry the onion and spices before they went in the cooker with coconut milk. As it was beef shin it needs a long slow cook, chucked some potato and carrot in as well.

Hello Morganae

My name is Sarah B and I would also like to formally, Welcome you to Susan's Place!

I see that Lori has welcomed you to Susan's as well.  I'm also sure that Danielle will try her best to resurrect your old account if it is possible.

I cannot help you in the electrolysis department and the payment for it.  When I changed my life around.  I paid for all my sessions to remove my facial hair, as I worked full time, and as far as I know insurance from my part of the world probably did not exist at the time I changed.

Since you have been here before and know your way around, it would be appreciated if you could provide an update or summary of what has happened in regards to yourself in the Introductions Forum.  I would appreciate it very much as, I'm always interested in learning something new from old or new members.

In addition members of Susan's as you know will more than likely will come along and discuss problems or issues that are similar to yours as most of us have experienced these as well.

Take care and all the best for the future.

Once again, Welcome to Susan's Place!
