Danielle hit it right on the head. I'll just add that it's never anyone else's decision whether transitioning or not is right. People get to make their own decisions. We don't make decisions for them.

@CosmicJoke

You are missing additional wording in the subject title of
your topic "Is detransitioning always the wise decision?"

The other question that should be stated in this topi and thread is:
"Is transitioning always the wise decision?"

A wise decision for one person may not be a wise decision for another.

The answer that one gives is very dependent on personal desires and needs
plus the circumstances (and resultant consequences) that will involve health,
relationships, employment, finances, etc, etc.

Great question, however ... there is not an answer that fits everyone as you
so aptly stated in our original posting.

Your question is definitely food for thought and personal introspection.

Thank you for sharing and posting.

Quote from: CosmicJoke on Today at 11:24:44 AMHi everyone. I believe it has happened where some people may have been led to believe that they are transgender and transitioning was what was right for them. Maybe they end up finding out it was something else so they detransition. In this case that was the right decision for them.
I think maybe there are other times people do it but then it turns out to be a mistake. I'm sure it has happened alot of times. Maybe when you see how you are treated as a woman you think "it's so much easier just to be a man" and vice versa.
My question is just that. Is detransitioning always the wise decision?

Quote from: davina61 on Today at 07:42:44 AMNice but I have to dice mine to go in a curry! Made a cauliflower and potato curry (Gobi Aloo) this morning. Now that would be a nice tasty one for you to try.

I'd 100% be on board with that! My IRISH but potato despising wife? Not so much.

It's quite the quandary... her Irish mom was the same. Neither of them like potatoes. Sweet potatoes? Fine. But regular potatoes? Yuck. I have found exceptions to the rule... but they are few and far between. Most things read as "too potatoey".

Even my mashed potatoes, which are famed in song and story, are anathema to her.

Go figure!

Foreign terrorist organizations could target Pride month events: FBI, DHS
Full Article
ABC News - Luke Barr
May 13, 2024, 12:07 PM

Foreign terrorist organizations may seek to exploit "LGBTQIA+-related events and venues," including events during 2024 Pride month -- celebrated in June, the FBI and Department of Homeland Security warned in a recent public service announcement.

"Organizations like ISIS may seek to exploit increased gatherings associated with the upcoming June 2024 Pride Month," according to the announcement, which the agencies issued last week. The announcement added that the threat is "compounded" by the "current heightened threat environment" in the United States.

The threats could come online, in person or in the mail, according to the FBI and DHS.

GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis said in a statement to ABC News that Pride events "bring communities together" and that safety remains a priority for all LGBTQ gatherings.

"A fringe few extremists, domestically and overseas, are irrationally threatened by the rising tide of acceptance for LGBTQ people," Ellis said. "It is important to keep Prides safe for all attendees, and for people to keep showing up during Pride and throughout the year to speak up for the equality and safety of their communities and all marginalized people."

By all means, attend these events, but be aware of your surroundings.
Be safe out there.

House G.O.P. Defunds L.G.B.T.Q. Centers by Banning Earmarks for Nonprofits
Full Article
The New York Times -  Catie Edmondson, Reporting from the Capitol
May 14, 2024, 5:02 a.m. ET

Under pressure from the right to stop funding L.G.B.T.Q. projects but wary of alienating Democrats, Republicans have a new solution: bar lawmakers from steering any federal money to individual nonprofit groups.

When Republicans on the House Appropriations Committee moved unilaterally last summer to nix federal funding requested by Democrats for three programs serving the L.G.B.T.Q. community, the normally collegial spending panel erupted in partisan strife.

Now House Republicans, facing mounting pressure from conservative groups and hard-line lawmakers in their own ranks to choke off federal funding for L.G.B.T.Q. groups, are trying to avoid another battle with Democrats over the issue by simply barring nonprofit organizations of any kind from receiving federal funding through earmarks.

In an announcement late last month, Representative Tom Cole, Republican of Oklahoma and the new chairman of the appropriations panel, said the change was an effort to "ensure projects are consistent with the community development goals of the federal program."

The effect will be to turn off the spigot of federal funds for an array of organizations supported by both Democrats and Republicans, to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars.

Same for me. Shrinkage, yes. I've been sitting to pee for decades due to fused vertebrae in my neck. I have a hard time looking down. I have often wondered if there would be enough, but until a surgeon tells me otherwise, I'll go with whatever I can. Hopefully, it will be sometime in this lifetime.

I thought lightning and thunder were rare where you lived?
I heard that until recently the electrical codes didn't put the heavy emphasis on lightning protection as they do in the states.  We get lightning and thunder all the time during the summer.  And sometimes during the winter.  I think all the trees around my yard attracts rain as my yard seems to be adequately  watered by nature even when other gardeners nearby are complaining about drought and the need to water their roses. Unless I just planted them, they don't need to be watered, saving me time to practice and play golf!  I have a rain barrel that hardly ever runs dry.  It almost did once last year.  Then it rained.

The bigger I got on top the smaller t got down below. It is impossible to use a urinal been so for years.

With nothing to see below I can wear any female clothes and it has been the only thing that has kept me sane while I wait for the op. Not a clue how much is available for the surgery, it will be what it is. And i am not holding my breath for it to ever happen
