Transitioning / Re: Is there a Typical transit...
Last post by Sarah B - Today at 08:58:56 PM
Hi Everyone

No, there is no typical transition guideline or route.  Not everyone transitions,  I never transitioned.

Here is brief summary on how I changed my life around.  I have always wanted or longed to be a female and from 1980 to 1988 those feeling grew stronger and stronger.  So long story short, I changed my life around when I was 30 years old and the following is what happened:

  •    Arrived in Sydney Feb 1989.
  •    Immediately I changed my name legally In Feb 1989
  •    I then changed my names on my legal documents as soon as possible.
  •    In Mar 1989 I was on hormones.
  •    In Mar 1989 I saw my first psychiatrist .
  •    Before end of April 1989 I was working full time as a female.
  •    In May 1990 I saw my second psychiatrist and my first surgery letter.
  •    In May 1990 my second surgery letter came from my endocrinologist.
  •    After May 1990 my third surgery letter came from my first psychiatrist.
  •    Finally, in Feb 1991 I had my surgery, so that I could function as a female.

However, you might say, but that's a 'transition'?  No it's Not.  The words with 'trans' were not around or I was not aware of them at the time, when I changed my life around, except for the word transsexual.

All I did from Feb 1989 onwards was, I changed my clothing and lived my life as a female and have done so ever since.  Along the way I sought medical treatments that was absolutely necessary to be able to function as a female.  It was not until I was 51 that I realised, that I have always been female.  I found this out from Susan's.

Reading your posts, it's hard to say where you need to start.  However, if you want to achieve your dream, then there are two things that you need to do to help you along the way and they are:

  •    Start HRT as soon as possible using a 'doctor' who specializes in gender related issues and uses 'informed consent'. Using this method will allow you to get HRT sooner.  The following link may help you in finding a 'doctor' that does Informed Consent Locations
  •    Remove your facial hair

As for the social stuff, I did not really learn anything, putting on makeup came easy, speaking, I spoke with a quite voice, doing my hair, I had long hair, so that came easy as well and socializing with others, well I already knew how to do that.  I did not change my personality, I was basically a private, quiet and reserved person.  I just presented myself as me.  Everything I did came naturally for me.

For medical the only treatments I had was facial hair removed and of course surgery.

Lori's list is a very good indication of what treatments or things you may need to do to achieve your dreams.

I hope that what I have mentioned, has given you some food for thought.  It is important for you to understand that it is up to you and only you that can decide what you are going to do in the future.

Take care and all the best for the future and if you need help then please do not hesitate to ask.

Love and Hugs

Last post by Jessica_K - Today at 07:40:05 PM
I have had a very good weekend, so nice to post positives.

I am leaving out the bad stuff, like car problems etc, as they are just every things that happen in life.

So Saturday started with a sleep in due to not getting home from work until 11pm and straight to sleep (missing it seems a spectacular show of a huge magnetic storm)

After a late breakfast back again to the ancient aunt to do some simple chores, replacing a smoke alarm and a SIM card for her phone. After it was back on portsdown hill for a bag of chips. Temperature was 23C and sun was full out. That alone makes you fill happy.

Back home and the day had gone, just Eurovision Song Contest to watch. As usual UK did badly getting 0 points from public vote, the only country out is 25 to reach that low. Finished 18th purely on the panel votes.

The Sunday started with a cheese omelette and then going round to our friends for a chat in their garden, for it was another lovely day. Then off to the opera again. Well a film stream of one. This time it was probably the saddest and most tragic opera of them all Madame Butterfly, and yes I cried.

The production from the Met opera and contained amazing puppetry, the boy child was so like like and so tender, words fail me.

During the performance I male failed in every encounter I just a yellow T shirt and jeans, no wig, no make up, a couple of bracelets and my painted nails. I was just a typical old lady of the area..

After we had dinner at the Giggling Squid, a Thai restaurant chain. We were greeted with hello ladies. Kay took it in her stride this week, I guess she has no option and is getting used to it.

I broke my bathroom rule, where I would never use the female facilities when not dressed so. But with everyone gendering we female the it felt right.

A totally lovely day.

Transgender Athlete Ban in a Long Island County Is Struck Down in Court
NY Times Article
The New York Times -  Hurubie Meko
May 11, 2024

A New York court on Friday struck down a Long Island county order that barred transgender women from playing on women's sports teams at county-owned sports facilities.

The case had raised questions about whether the ban was legal under the state's human rights law. But the ruling on Friday by Justice Francis Ricigliano of Nassau County Supreme Court turned on a technical issue: The county executive, Bruce Blakeman, had "acted beyond the scope of his authority as the chief executive officer of Nassau County" when he imposed the ban, Justice Ricigliano said.

The right to pass such laws is reserved for legislative bodies, and chief executives of local governments cannot "unlawfully infringe" on those rights, the ruling stated.

Gabriella Larios, a staff attorney at the New York Civil Liberties Union, said on Friday that the decision "deals a serious blow to county executive Blakeman's attempt to score cheap political points by peddling harmful stereotypes about transgender women and girls."

Nassau County's order did not restrict transgender boys and men from competing on boys' and men's teams at county facilities.

Trump vows to reverse transgender student protections 'on day one'
https://thehill.com/homenews/lgbtq/4656405-donald-trump-transgender-students-athletes-title-ix-lgbtq/
The Hill - BROOKE MIGDON
05/10/24 12:41 PM ET

Former President Trump said Friday he would roll back transgender student protections enacted last month by the Biden administration "on day one" of his presidency if he is reelected in November.

The Education Department in April unveiled a final set of sweeping changes to Title IX, the federal civil rights law preventing sex discrimination in schools and education programs that receive government funding. The new regulations, which are slated to take effect Aug. 1, cover discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity for the first time.

"We're gonna end it on day one," Trump said Friday during an appearance on "Kayal and Company," a conservative talk radio show in Philadelphia. "Don't forget, that was done as an order from the president. That came down as an executive order. And we're gonna change it — on day one it's gonna be changed."

Trump has also promised to enact at least a dozen policies targeting transgender rights as president, including a nationwide ban on transgender student-athletes competing in accordance with their gender identity and a federal law that recognizes only two genders. He has also vowed to punish health care providers who administer gender-affirming medical care to minors.

@LoriDee
Dear LoriDee:
Thank you so very much for finding and posting this...  I find it to be reprehens
available that while our Veterans are needing assistance and help, and we hear all the time
about the limited funds available for care for our Veterans, that the Veterans Affairs leaders
and executives - are receiving big bonuses, totally to the tune of $11,000,000,000  ....
add that to all of the other wasted government money that is not going where it is really needed.
There are many returning veterans that are suffering serious disabilities that could better
utilize those funds.

Again LoriDee, thank you for posting this story.

My wife was accepting enough to talk about female social issues from her perspective growing up with sisters.  That seems to be an awfully rare occurrence.
