Oh believe me, Heidemarie (inadvertent rhyme - my apologies!) I'm well aware, and try to appreciate that fact every day. But then nothing has changed on that front in years. I felt that way about my wife long before transition. 😘

I take a ride on my UTV on country roads or  get out my WW2 sub machine gun and shoot up some targets.

Gender Correction Surgery / Re: Hernia surgery after GRS

Hello Valkyrie_lux

My name is Sarah B and I would also like to formally, Welcome you to Susan's Place!

I see that Danielle and Lori have already greeted you and they come with sound advice.  They have already said; that you need to continue to seek expert medical advice in regards to your 'inguinal  hernia'.  I would also in regards to this particular situation would advise the same.

You said;

Quote from: Valkyrie_lux on Today at 12:39:57 PMHey y'all.

I am having a mild medical issue and I'm wondering if anyone here has experience with this. I know this might not belong exactly here but I'm not really sure where to ask people about this. I'm a little panicked about it all.

Yesterday my GP diagnosed me with an inguinal hernia. It's not severe but it's uncomfortable and will require surgery to fix. The fact that I am post-op came up as a concern. I guess the concern is if it gets worse, I don't have a scrotal sac for the hernia to spread into. It's not at that point but I have no idea how long it's going to take to schedule surgery. I know a lot of people go for years not even knowing they have a hernia like this.

First, if this post is in the wrong place.  Then Danielle or other moderators will move it to a more appropriate place.

Yes, you are having a medical issue and it's a concern for you, your GP is already sorting out your problem.  In the best way that they can.  All I can say at this moment is too take a deep breath and relax, panicking will not solve the issue.  The problem will eventually sort itself out in time.  How do I know this?

I like you, I'm post op of 33 years, I currently have a medical condition called BPH.  In other words I have problems going to wee.  This has been going on for sometime and at the moment I have had the condition diagnosed, by my gynaecologist.  Who I told explicitly that I was post op with my surgery letter.

I never tell 'doctors' about my 'medical condition' unless I really have to.  In other words I do not want other 'doctors or surgeons' poking around and knowing about my 'medical condition'.  I will be speaking with my GP and will be talking about what my options are going to be.

Quote from: Valkyrie_lux on Today at 12:39:57 PMDoes anyone have any experience with this while post-op? My surgery was over a decade ago but I'm still worried about another surgeon poking around in the area. Having the soreness from this is driving up dysphoria and it's a lot of stress.

While I do not have this particular medical condition that you have 'inguinal hernia', there maybe other members here on Susan's Place that might have had or still have the medical condition that you have and if they read your post they will come along and if they are willing to share their story, then you will benefit immensely from those stories.

I don't have dysphoria about my condition per se, but I don't want the vestiges that reminds me of my past life.  I want it removed, but it will take time.  So I will take things steadily.

Quote from: Valkyrie_lux on Today at 12:39:57 PMOn top of that, I have FFS scheduled in 3 and a half weeks and I'm scared this could delay it. My GP is making some phone calls but I'm not going to hear anything for a few days yet. If anyone has any advice, experiences, or suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

Only your GP can advise you on what path you need to take in regards to this particular situation.

Once you feel comfortable here, it would be appreciated if you add a little bit more about yourself and your past, in the Introduction Forums.  I would appreciate it very much if you do so, as I'm always interested in learning something new,

In addition members of Susan's will more than likely will discuss problems or issues that are similar to yours as most of us have experienced these as well.

Take care and please let us know what happens.

Once again, Welcome to Susan's Place!
