Thank you, Mariah! I don't know if you saw this additional request in my email or if it is even possible...

When I signed up for the new registration I didn't realize I could use uppercase letters in my name.  Is it possible to change my profile name from zoey starr to Zoey Starr?
I really appreciate any help you can offer.

I posted a very serious thread later in December. Luckily I think I read all the replies to it right before it was lost. I thank everyone for their replies to it as well.

Dear Cosmic Joke:
You are not alone... all of us that have returned to the Forum after
the New Year's Day site crash have experienced loss in our postings and comments.

Be looking around the internet and do a search in the Forum and you will
probably be able to find more of your writings that you can re-post.

It was good to see that you were able to make it back after the crash.
I will be eagerly looking for your future postings.
HUGS,
Daniell

All I can say, is "wow!!!"

I was able to recover my original account I created when I first came out, but my main account, one I created after I came out to Nora, is gone.

All my posts, threads, and my entire blog.
My story does't exist here any more, nor all the wonderful advice I received over the years, advice and lessons I thought would be helpful for future transitioners.

Gone, like I never existed here.

And now I wonder whether it's worth it to return.

Dear Laura,

I understand the deep sense of loss you're feeling, and it's truly heartbreaking to hear about the disappearance of your main account, along with your valuable posts, threads, and blog. Your journey, experiences, and the insights you've shared are irreplaceable, and it's natural to feel disheartened in such a situation.

However, I'd like to encourage you to consider the broader impact and the unique value you bring to our community. While it's true that we provide the platform, it's the contributions from members like you that truly bring it to life. Your story, though it may feel like it's been erased, continues in you and through the interactions you've had with others over the years. The advice and lessons you've imparted have already made a difference and can continue to do so.

Rebuilding might seem daunting, but it also offers a fresh start, an opportunity to retell your story, perhaps with new insights and reflections that weren't there before. Your return could be a powerful statement about resilience and the enduring nature of our shared journeys. The support, understanding, and camaraderie you've found here remain, and your voice can still be a guiding light for those embarking on their own paths of discovery and transition.

Remember, your existence and impact extend far beyond the posts and threads you've created. They reside in the lives you've touched, the conversations you've sparked, and the community you've helped build. While we cannot replace what was lost, we can continue to offer a space for you to share, grow, and connect.

I hope you'll consider staying with us, not just for the support you can continue to receive, but for the invaluable support and inspiration you can continue to provide to others.

Warm regards,
Susan

I may be more fortunate that most, because all my blog posts were drafted in Google Docs before I posted them to Susans. I cared that much about the stories I was telling. So, yes, I could spend the next week or two reposting them, but then all context is lost because the amazing advice I'd received is no longer available.

While this is my original account, I'd deleted it and later created a new account. I COULD use this account going forward, but I'd used my entire name as the user name. My deleted account was under Laura1951. I'd rather my last name not be referenced with every post. Unfortunately, I'm not able to create a new account, LauraE, because my primary email address was also used by this account.

I'm stuck.

Yes. We basically lost everything between late May 2019 and 1 Jan 2024. Anyone who joined Susan's between those dates will need to re-register, and all of the posts in that period are gone. Thanks for coming back.

@Tills  @Tig58072
Dear Tills and Tig58072:
Welcome back after our site crash on New Year's Day.
I do remember your prior presence here and I am glad that you were able to re-register.

I promise to not "bombard" you with "Moderator Welcome instructions" however you do need
to know that the site is still in the process of rebuilding and looks a little different
and navigating around the site is a little different as well.

I do want you to look closely at the ANNOUNCEMENTS
                  https://www.susans.org/index.php/board,2.0.html
you will find a summary of what happened and what we are doing to get the site put back together.

Also the "Rules" have been revised and have actually been "relaxed" and updated to be more
user friendly so you do need to review those again.

you begin again with sharing your experiences here on the Susan's Place Forum.

Quote from: Zoey Starr on January 04, 2024, 09:27:16 PMIt appears my profile was one of the ones that has been wiped out and I was forced to re-register. Is it posssible to lift the restriction on a certain number of posts before adding a profile picture? Or perhaps Danielle can verify that I have been on this site for years and lift the restriction based on that verification?

Or am I just missing the place to add a profile photo on the new site?

I too would like to add an avatar photo but don't really want to post wasteful messages until I gain the permission so I'll bide my time probably.

On this subject, I noticed that waaaay back an original forum mod posted something, fairly confrontational I feel, about not putting up an avatar that is clearly not yourself. Their point at the time was that a false photo can mislead people. It's an interesting one that and in the interest of balance I think it's worth putting the other side. I have two children, one of whom I have to dance around very carefully. He's aware of this site and as I also have a media profile he would NOT be happy to see me posting anything that could identify me on here.

It's always worth just taking a step back with people and from hostility, especially online where so much can be misconstrued, and asking ourselves, 'now why might that person be coming at if from that angle? Is there another point of view here'?

Anyway, well done all for getting the site back up and running. It's still not accessible using several web browsers e.g. Safari and DuckDuckGo but I can access it on Chrome.

I believe that you're referring to this post from Nero, the Forum Admin at the time.

https://www.susans.org/index.php/topic,167649.0.html

Quote from: Nero on June 23, 2014, 01:04:50 PMNo fantasy faces and lives please. Susans is not for pretenders

When you post a photo or avatar of someone other than yourself and claim or lead our members to believe it's you, you're insulting all of us. Insulting our intelligence (since many of these photos are easily turned up in a google search as being some model who is either a well known cis person or just very unlikely to be you).

You're also >-bleeped-<ting in the face of our many members who have shared their real faces and real lives with us. They were brave enough to share themselves warts and all with us. So don't chicken out and try to pass off a gorgeous cis person as yourself. You don't have to be beautiful to get into this club. You just have to be real. And there are many of us who don't show our faces for privacy reasons. Perfectly understandable as well. Just don't pretend to show your face, unless it's really YOUR face.

If for whatever reason, you want to play out a fantasy on the internet - a fantasy face and fantasy life - please go elsewhere. Fantasy has its place, but it's not here.

Avatars of famous people or models are ok; as long as you're not trying to fool anyone it's you.

The point isn't that you can't use another photo, in fact we offer a selection of photos for use by our members which can be accessed by going to Profile/Forum profile/Select avatar from gallery/Femmes.

The point is that if someone is using another photo, or a faceapp photo, they acknowledge it, especially when someone compliments them on the photo.

I hope this clears things up.

Hugs, Devlyn

that's a very old post regarding a very old issue that happened with another site. as you can see with my own profile picture, I'm not exactly a sadistic stuffed bear irl it's just maintaining  a certain degree of separation with the rest of the world (and if you want to do the same nothing wrong with that).

It wasn't 'unclear' @Devlyn so it didn't need clearing up. I was pointing out another side to what was a rather acerbic post by that original person. I deliberately didn't put the Nero quote as it was a) from an awfully long time ago and b) they are now deceased. So I was treading with grace and dignity.

I'm quite sure that if someone uses a picture of, say, Jennifer Aniston it's pretty obvious to everyone in the world that it isn't them.
