Hey all! How's it goin?
I guess I'll introduce myself.
My name is Brooke. I'm 36 years old, and still living in my hometown. I believe I am a transsexual. That is, I feel as if I am or should have been born a girl. I only recently (about 1 year) decided that this is just who I am and I can not deny it anymore.
I spent from age 6 to 35 dressing secretly. Apparently, I'm quite good at keeping such a deep secret. :( I actually wished I got caught a few times so I could just end the madness. I don't know how I made it this far without getting caught or at least accepting this when I was younger. My mom caught me a couple times when I was like 7 but that was about it. From then on, I knew to be ultra careful. I put a lot of effort into keeping my cover.
I spent the last couple years researching this on the Internet in a serious capacity. It was shocking and a relief to read my story from so many other people in the world. So many people know just what I am going thru, and I am not alone. I didn't expect it to be so prevalent. I must have purged all my clothes at least 5 or 6 times (I miss some of em!!). It was eye-opening to see so many other people have done the same things as me.
I think what finally solidified in my mind, that I am transsexual, is the hypothetical that IF I could go back knowing what I know now I would have started taking hormones when I was 14 and to hell with what my friends thought. I would have chartered my life for transition from early on, without a doubt.
I met the most incredible women recently that I didn't think existed. She has given me a lot of strength, hope, and inspiration. And she makes me feel incredibly good. :-*

Brooke so glad you made it to Susan's and are posting. I have made some friends here and everyone truly is cool and supportive. There is so much info available on the net, but it can't compare to real life people standing beside you with words of wisdom and unlimited hugz. That is what I have found here.

Thank you. I feel the same about you. I think having known eachother so long on the boards has really been a bonus to us and our relationship. I cannot imagine my life without you and am just thankful that life has brought us together by whatever twist of fate or wave of God's hand. I love you. :icon_love:

Oh my gosh. I'm not sure how this thread slipped past me. Welcome to Susans Brooke. We've really enjoyed having togetherwecan here and she has talked so much about you. I feel almost as if I know you now. :) You might try getting a hold of a copy of True Selves and read that. A lot of how you described hiding stuff is covered in there. I bet you'll find a ton of other things that reflect how you feel.

oh my gosh, I'm so lame for not revisiting this thread sooner. I guess I could use that neat little 'show new replies to your posts' link, but I hadn't really used it yet.
Thank you everyone for the kind and warm hearted welcome. This feels like a good place to be with lots of good and nice people. ;D
And I like this board style. There are some really cool tools available, like the 'new replies' link. And I like how it integrates your last posts together if nobody has posted in between.
The YouTube coding is cool also.
Come to think of it this is one of the most advanced PHP boards that I have used. GREAT JOB!! GOOD WORK!! This is a nice place to be.
