I've read on a couple websites that you shouldn't wait more than a couple years on HRT before undergoing SRS.  Does anyone know why that is?  I read on some websites that if you're on HRT for too long before undergoing SRS you can lose potential depth, but why would that be?

Even Dr. Suporn Watanyusakul advises this.  Here's the info I found on his website:

    Maximum vaginal depth attained with the scrotal skin graft beyond the original position of the peritoneal reflection (Douglas Pouch). A minimum of 6.0" (15.25 cm) vaginal depth is guaranteed immediately after surgery in all cases of SRS. The modal average is 7.0" (17.8 cm) depth. The best aesthetics and maximum depth are obtained if the patient has:

        not been circumcised;

        not had bilateral orchiectomy;

        not had genital electrolysis other than the perineum

        not been taking antiandrogens/hormones for more than a few years

        no medical conditions; and is

        not overweight.

In such cases, the maximum attained has been 8.5" (22.6 cm) depth after long-term recovery in 2003-5

I'm guessing it's due to the testicle shrinkage

It's not saying you can't undergo SRS, just advising you that they feel that maximum depth and aesthetics are achieved after being on a couple of years on HRT.  Which is a bogus claim in my opinion because I got SRS after just 13.5 of going on HRT and have a beautiful vulva and wonderful depth.

in laymen's terms, your pee pee shrinks and your testes shrinks....which will give a shallower depth

Actually, your penis doesn't atrophy from HRT, only the testes do.  The penis may appear to have shrunk, but it's just an illusion.

The highlighted area,"the best aesthetics and maximum depth are obtained if the patient has:" "covers it pretty well I think, purely aesthetics rather than anything medically related.

I had a orchy at 3 months HRT and GRS at 9 months and Dr Meltzer told me that i had MORE useable skin from the orchy because it made a scar tissue that was stretched and part of the inside was now outside and clear of any hairs that he could use. I got around 7 inches depth and basically am still a virgin who hasn't dilated in 9 yrs and yet two weeks ago i tried with a pencil and easily got to 5 inches and it was just a simple poke.

Also the body takes 7 yrs to rebuild every cell so i can't see how any tissue it reduced unless it is removed before 7 yrs. It may shrink or appear to be less but thats all it can actually be.

Well what else am i to use since i gave away my dilators yrs ago!  What would you use?  It had a nice rubber tip on it  ::)

A vibrator or Dildo would have been much safer. A pencil would be dangerous to use anyway, especially if it had broke.

mine went from 6.5 inches to 2.5 inches.....that's not an illusion.

I have to agree with this one. Dildo and vibrators are much safer than a pencil!!! And you can get em for like 11 bucks

Well it was a spur of the moment thing figuring out my depth to give someone an answer to my recovery. I live where they are mostly amish and mennonites so they don't have those things here.

you can always order them off of the internet. Even if it was the spur of the moment, it was still a very dangerous thing to do. Buy something that you can safely measure your depth with. You may have even loss depth over the years without your knowledge, but do it safely.

Thanks for your concern. I shouldn't have done it but i did and its over and all is well. Yes i did lose depth about 2 inches but since i am a celibate thats fine by me having 5 inches or even less if that happens.

I live in the middle of the biggest Amish territory of the United States...Lancaster, PA. More Amish than regular folk. We have 4 adult book stores within a 4 block radius and Ive seen a couple Amish in there with their horse and buggy parked outside....seriously...look at where I live lol.

No shame in buying a toy. I go to a Seminary with a bunch of Mennonites and we frequented the adult store a few times.
