Title: The Sims
Post by: ninjaboi on July 14, 2011, 08:22:43 PM
Anyone else play The Sims?

I started with The original years ago and loved it. Then went and got Sims 2 which was even better.

Now I am playing Sims 3. It passes the time if i am bored! Love customizing characters. I just made the entire Criminal Minds team!

I love The Sims series, especially the third installment. Sims 3 is so addicting, all I want to do is play it until I get sick of it.

Medieval is interesting too, as is My Sims.

I started playing The Sims Bustin Out again. The burglar music is terrifying... o.o

I've played The Sims 2 and 3, though I don't have most of the expansion packs! I like it quite a bit too.

I have played them quite a bit, all three of them. I usually play for a few weeks regularly and then will reach that point where I realise that I'm playing a game where I go through the same routine that I do in real life and lose interest because... well, my real life is boring so why play a game where I do the same thing? lol  :D

Games like The Sims - which is brilliant, no doubt - want more from me than I can give them.  I'm pretty much a shooting pool/playing cards kind of person.

I seriously don't get the attraction of the SIMs. It's like playing solitaire, just you and the cards. If I'm wrong, please explain it to me.

It's a one player game if that's what you mean.

The concept of life simulators is really interesting to people. You control these people's lives. What they eat, what they do, their family, their lives..

Also people like abusing them.

I haven't played for awhile. I really like the creativity aspects of the game, and the ability to mold your sims personality. But like others, I always get to the point where I feel like it's silly to play life. Then the boardom surfaces and I'll put all the visitors in tiny prisons till they turn into a massive graveyard. By the I'm feeling like I have wasted so much time. I shouldn't be getting her (she's always female) to clean, I should be getting myself to clean. (neatfreak) Then I won't play for a long time. Normally I only give into playing socially, or durning the winter seasons when it's to cold outside.

I was 100% addicted to the Sims 2.  I didn't like 3.  I probably should have waited for all the awesome custom outfits and accessories to be created by the community before I got it.  They have the Sims on FB now.  Very dangerous...

This was the site that made 2 so amazing.  Hmmmm, tempted to load 3 now.

Wasn't that impressed with the first, but the second I own all but Ikea, and the third I have fun making sims (custom sliders FTW) ^_^ I like the challenges various people set up for this series. Also, it's a great outlet - although my self-sim makes more money and has better luck in relationships than I do :( Although he gets to wear these awesome custom outfits that I'd love to own for real one day.

But also, as much as it's a life-sim, it's also a kind of fantasy world - other sims walking by two guys making out with each other? Walking past a dolled up male sim without so much as a stare? Meanwhile IRL I get asked - again - if I'm a boy or girl - I know where I'd rather spend my time ;P

sometimes i try to play the sims to make them a good, successful lifestyle. there's other times i just burn their house down, and make them fail at life. the sims 3 has more fun to it since there's the option of playing, and then sharing the story online.

I have The Sims 2 + Nightlife, Open for Business, and University (hooray for finding expansion packs at the thrift store! :P ). I always am obsessed with it for a short time, then I try to do a project that's way over my head, and I give up on the project for awhile.

My most recent big project was creating an entire coven of adult and teenaged vampires, and two humans (to make money, you know). I finished, but I can't keep track of eight sims at once. They've already set the stove on fire three times in ten minutes. =.=

LOL - lightweight ;)

Tip for controlling eight or more sims at once - pause often, get some AI enhancing hacks under your belt. Makes things a lot easier ;)

I love sims 3, and I wish that they had a pets expansion pack because I loved playing sims 2 pets.

my favorite part is creating the characters and building the house.

after playing for a few hours and then turning it off, does anyone else start feeling like a sim with your everyday tasks like, use the bathroom, eat, go to work, shower lol

But then it's cheating. ;)

Actually, I do love to use weird cheat codes in this game. My favorite it the death headstone (forgot what it's called). You click on it and the selected sim will die from whatever death you choose. (You can make them drown in dirt.  >:-))

While I like killing sims, there's always ones I love and want to keep. So I make them into vampires like Nemo does. XD

The tombstone of L & D (life and death)? Yeah, that's not all it's good for though - used it a lot in the days when I wrote sim-stories.

And cheating? I prefer to call them bug fixes - Sims are so stupid sometimes it can easily be classed as such o_O Even so, when my household was at its fullest, the resident vamp nearly killed himself 'cause the urge to take out rubbish was greater than the fact he couldn't go out in the daytime >_< Lesson for today: Never vamp a neat-freak unless you find the "No auto take out trash" mod..

Fair enough. And the vampire sims are so stupid! They always do that. For example: I told my sim to go into the basement (where his coffin is) and go to bed. Instead of going down the indoor stairs I built, he goes outside and tries to go in the side door. But he dies before he gets there. >.<

I used to play the first one a lot when it came out, but i don't play the new ones.
My wife was really into the 3rd one until it keep erasing her games randomly and she would have to start over!
