In a not-unexpected development, there are reports that Paulo Sibaja, legislative director of the Sacramento-based Capitol Resource Institute, has started the process for a statewide vote to overturn SB 48, the bill signed by Gov. Jerry Brown a day earlier that requires school curricula and textbooks to include historical contributions by LGBT people,

Sen. Mark Leno, sponsor of the bill, said he was unsurprised by the move, and said it will be challenge to get the necessary signatures, and that, even if so, Californians would reject the measure.
