Hey everyone, I'm relatively new here but understand the concept of the forums here. :) I go by my chosen name, Chase, but those who are unfamiliar that I am FTM (mainly everyone) identify me as Courtnee unfortunately. I'm 18 years old and from California. I finally started attending therapy with my girlfriend recently on my gender dysphoria. Surprisingly, I got extremely lucky with this therapist as she has been specialized in gender dysphoria related medical fields for over a decade. She definitely knows whats going on with me and has many other clients who are transsexual. She has also noted to me that all of my feelings about my body over my lifetime are all too familiar to her. She explained to me that many others have felt and are dealing with the same dysphoric feelings as I have. I was sort of already familiar with the fact that I am not the only FTM in this world haha. I've watched MANY youtube videos on FTM's who are going through or have already transitioned. I know what lies ahead down the road for me. As for my family, I have told my mother, father, step father, two close friends, and obviously my girlfriend about having gender dysphoria. The public most likely identify me on the spot as a lesbian.. I have very feminine bone structures but dress in male clothing. There have been times where I've been "sir'd" here and there but I mostly pass as a girl. My mother and stepfather completely understand (I am still trying to understand how unreal that is for me but I am EXTREMELY lucky.) and back me up in transitioning 100%. My father understands but does not want to lose his "little girl". I can't blame him for feeling that way though.. My brother and I are very close, but I know deep in my heart he will not understand. He is afraid of anything different and had a hard time dealing with me as a "lesbian", which he still knows me as at this point. Anyways I am getting analyzed for hormones on August the 4th, about a week from now or so. After about 3 months of seeing if I qualify for T (which my therapist said none of her clients have EVER failed.) I should be able to start hormones. My therapist is partnered with several other doctors who distribute hormones and specialize in FTM surgeries. So, so far, WAY TOO good. My mom and stepfather will be attending my next therapy session as my therapist said she has done with other clients family members to help "educate" them through this subject. Any who, that's my story and very long introduction. For those of you who took the time to read it all, thank you, it is greatly appreciated that I was able to introduce who I really am at first, and vent to you.
