I'm looking for anybody who is/was a dancer while living and presenting as male. (Sorry guys- if you danced while presenting or being viewed as female you're not exactly who I need to talk to right now.)

I'd be interested in talking with guys who pass about this too. It's one of the things I'm dreading most about transitioning. :-\

What style of dance do you guys do? I'm thinking of starting up hip hop to give me something non-partnered to do until I become more passable.

ballet, tap (broadway style, not stomp), jazz (same thing, traditional).
i don't like hip-hop but i guess i'm biased from having such a traditional dance background

I started out with jazz when I was younger, but my reintroduction to dance in college was belly dancing and then salsa. Now I have a tendency to use very feminine looking hip and arm movements (which gets me in trouble when I'm doing tango and other stiffer dances), so I'm hoping that hip hop might help me get used to different types of movements. I've noticed that a lot of dance exchanges have men's/women's styling classes, but I tend to get strange looks when I show up in the men's one. :-\

Agh, salsa...we did a (brief) unit of salsa in my aerobic dance class, back in college. Scary ->-bleeped-<-. I couldn't do it at all, I can't get the whole fluid movement down...I'm all clunky and awkward, lol.

I did ballet, jazz and tap as a female at theatre school, and I'd like to take jazz now as a male, so I'm interested in this thread.
