Title: Breast size? Is there any correlation from our Mothers, Grand Mothers, etc.
Post by: Francis Ann Burgett on August 04, 2011, 04:54:49 AM
It surely seems that our developing breasts size with estrogen to stimulate their growth also must have some correlation in final size as to our Mothers & Grand Mothers, etc... normally born female breast size.

Just wondering if anyone at has any actual proof of this or if there is no correlation whatsoever?

I have been told countless times that we can expect one size below our sisters and moms. This scares me because i dont want G cup sized boobs!!! but yea no actual proof but everyone says there is one  :D

I think the one cup size smaller rule is anecdotal at best.  There are plenty of variables that dictate breast size to say that its a hard and fast rule that we'll end up one cup size smaller is more coincidence then anything else.  Like everything else YMMV.  If there is one truth, skinny girls have smaller boobs that's true whether you're cis or trans.

As long as I continue to notice ciswomen with smaller boobs than mine, I don't care.

I understand that it's anecdotal. Saying that you will be within a cup size of your family members, when most women are A, B, C, D, DD is really just stating what is statistically probable.

I agree... it's kind of a craps shoot.  My mom is an A, which is an anomaly in a family of larger-busted women.  I've heard from many transwomen who grew to be larger than their mothers and sisters, one of whom I know personally and she started hormones at 37.  So who knows, really?

I'm at 10 months HRT and barely half an A. :(  But I'm also rail thin and have been my entire life.  The only time I ever gained appreciable weight was the result of medication, and it all melted away the second I stopped taking it.

Well... maybe I'm half an A.  I don't know how to measure it.  I can only fill about half an A bra, but the protrusion from the bottom of my breast to the nipple is about an inch and a half to two inches.  There's just not much surrounding tissue to fill out a bra.  They really look like moobs.  And if I raise my arms up, what little I have disappears completely.

There must be some direct correlation. We all have some of out mothers, grand mothers, etc... features. I'm sure we are all glad for that, I know I am.

Since breast growth is (amongst other things) dependent on fat in the diet, it partially depends on what your and their diet/exercise ratio has been whilst developing breasts too.

And on top of this, mothers and grandmothers generally see their breasts get bigger after pregnancy and childbirth, so if this system was going to work, you'd really want to correlate your breast size with what theirs were before they got pregnant in any case.

I'm glad it's just a rule of thumb -  my Mum was an A cup.

  • B cup: 44%
  • C cup: 28%
  • D cup: 10%
  • DD cup: 1%

im a firm believer of this. My sisters have DD breasts and Ive been on hrt for about 16 months now and I am C cup without any breast augmentations or progesterone.

I am also a firm believer of Your mileage may vary but it is very true genetics play a big role.

I don't honestly mind having small breasts, as long as I have a cute face. ;D Srsly, though, I've never wanted big breasts, or even really average sized ones. I just want, you know, breasts. Period.

Still, after just two months, I'm getting significant breast growth. Time to invest in a sports bra. I don't plan on actually going full-time until the end of the year, so hopefully it won't keep growing all hyper-accelerated.

Thanks to all girlfriends for replies. I think this is good for all of us to know since we all are moving forward to become our mothers new daughter. We owe everything to our mothers really. My mother was I guess a C or D cup woman. My appearance & features are similar to hers. She always wanted a girl & I always thought I was her daughter/girl until the first grade of school when told different, but they were wrong really.

Good luck to all that read this.

Also guys I'm wondering if the variety of breast size compared to the mother might have some kind of paternal link instead.

The obvious conclusion is that the trait wouldn't be on the Y chromosome.  I'll have to refresh my memory of exactly how hormones work, as I recall they simply activate cellular processes, or deactivate them.  If that's true, estrogen activates the "pre-programmed" aspect of the gene that controls breast development.  So the genetic link would be vaild.  I would think like most traits it would be a combination of both genes (both Xs or the X and Y) that would dicate breast size, so maybe its more reliable to average the females on both sides of your family.  But there again, YMMV, there are always exceptionall tall children born to two short parents, etc and vice versa.

So in the end there's no reliable predictor to actual breast development other then that it takes years.  Women (cis and trans) need to give it at least five years before they consider a BA or other procedures.  I would think too that post orchie or GRS, might affect breast development with the significant reduction in naturally occuring testosterone.

Oh snap! I'm reasonably sure I'm a chimera too.  Do you have the stripey effect on your skin?

Edit: The way I tend to look at boob size is the amount of glandular tissue.  I could gain a lot of weight if I wanted bigger boobs but that would ruin the rest of me.  I'm pretty much an A cup and that's mainly just the firm tissue.

Yes my metabolism went through the roof 2 months in. 4 months in it has kind of settled and I've gained weight ;_;. BUT, my chest is really showing now. I just wish they were shaped right. I hear it takes time for breasts to 'round out'.
