An agreement allowing transgenders free access to Loehmann's fitting rooms and rest rooms was announced yesterday by a human rights fund and the apparel chain.

"If an individual is expressing themselves as a woman by outward appearance, including dress, and that individual would like to use the women's bathroom or dressing room, the individual may use such women's facilities," the chain told employees in a memo.

I've never had a problem with that, I even tried stuff on in the womens changing rooms in H&M in quasi male mode and no one  batted an eyelid.

I think this story is realted to the recent episode between this department store and a TG person.

In the UK it is not against the law to us ethe loos of the oposit sex unless you have endicently exposed your self.

I think thats right...

So it is safer for TS to use the females and in incoraged in these situations.

Hi Lucy;

Well, here in the beautiful USA, only certain states  have laws which prohibit discrimination based on gender identity and expression.  However, I can understand the fear of some women who are unfamiliar with terms (i.e, TS, TG, IS) have regardless of the area where one lives.  Yes, the laws are very explicit and detailed but if a person is not fully presenting themselves as the gender they identify with, then we have situations like these.

And BTW, this topic is in fact related to this thread. (https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,8561.0.html)

Merged the topic and went with Tink's title since it was a bit more accurate than the NY Daily title on their article.
