Title: My therapist, My Letter for hormones

My therapist is a general therapist in my hometown. She has no problems with writing a letter of recommendation for my use of Estrogen. The problem is, after reading the sample letters in some guidelines I gave her, she wants to know what I want in the letter. She admits to being a bit out of her area of expertise but she is willing to learn and help me in the process if she can. I told her to just tell her opinion of the truth and reality of my situation but I think we both are a bit befuddled.
If any of you could help me find what a prescribing physician wants in the letter I would greatly appreciate it. If you think it is a non-issue and something for me not to concern myself with please say so. I am not in a huge hurry but would like to have all my ducks in a tidy row when I approach a new doctor if at all possible.
Did any of you put together a draft of a letter for your therapist or are they expected to do this without any input from us outside of the sessions? I don't want to do anything that will draw the process out any longer than it has to be.

My therapist did it entirely based on the intake questionnaire I filled out before our sessions began (in which I wrote 8 pages of background information) and the two sessions we had before she wrote the letter. She sent me a draft copy to make sure that certain information was correct and to fill in any blanks that she had left, but that was it. :)

Thanks Zoe, some sessions where we just cover the content of the letter may be what we need to do next.

Tell them what you want. Give them doses and meds you desire. Endo should then modify and check liver and other organs to make sure you stay healthy.
Ms. X is transgendered and has gender issues from age 8. I unconditionally recommend she take following hormones to see if this helps. Her vital signs will be monitored quarterly and her progress will be noted at that time. Dr. Z

Thanks Wendy! It seems funny to me that I have spent all this time leading up to this next step but I don't have a clue about what to put in it!

My therapist and I went through the WPATH standards and she addressed each of the requirments for hormones & surgery in the letter. We took it to my doctor and she said the letter was perfect and it was all she needed.
I think the truth of the matter is that the doctor just wants to know that you have gone to counseling and your counselor feels you are ready to start medically transitioning.
