Title: What kind of hormones doctores in UK prescribe?
Post by: marelivki on August 19, 2011, 08:15:26 AM
What kind of hormones doctores in UK prescribe? Pills, band-aids, shots? It all depends on a person, or the list is pretty similar in each case?

They don't perscribe me anything I have to go elsewhere for that but from what I can tell they don't give out any hormone blockers and these days only perscribe moderate/low levels of Oral Estradiol pills.

Well Estrogen is supposed to supress it in the long run but honestly my experience the levels begin given arn't high enough to achive this effect.

I myself am taking gray market hormones, and hormone blockers.

(MTF) Pills, patches & cream. I don't think E injection is licensed in the UK. What you get and in what form would depends on who you're seeing, your age & medical history etc. Also, if one form isn't working, they may try something else.

They prescribe oral estradiol valerate and Zoladex injections.

They will also prescribe transdermal estrogen like the patches if you want. Estradiol valerate is the oral estrogen, i used to get 17b estradiol in the gel but i think that has been discontinued. If you go to ChX they don't prescribe progestogens which some people are not happy about.

I still get androcur prescribed but the endo mentioned some kind of oil injected into your bum last time i saw him.....a different one to zolodex but still. My doctor seemed to not notice that bit in the letter and wanting to avoid the big jab i'm just quietly not mentioning anything. I doubt new patients would get androcur though.
