Title: Finally! Started T Today
Post by: Hurtfulsplash on August 20, 2011, 12:04:38 AM
Hey all, I began T today after waiting 2 long years. It's a cream, I was hoping for injections, but I was assured creams, pellets, injections all have the same results. It all cost my 500$, the damn doc didn't like the 2 therapy letters I brought with me, but I was able to get in touch with another therapist today too. I hope to get top surgery done maybe before Christmas, was going to build up my pecs more, but I just want it over with. I don't know, what else to say, long day. Here's a vid, anything else I should add?

Congratulations!  You should have a T-Party or T-Ball to celebrate.

$500 seems a little high to me.  May I ask what all that covered and why he didn't give you injections?

Thanks

Office visit: $117
Blood work: $260 (4 tests)
Testosterone: $65 (2 mos)
Therapist: $60 (1.5 visits)

I kept asking for injections but he kept going back to pellets then cream, saying the usual it has less ups and downs.

I don't want to assume, but it does sound to me like he was dismissive of what you had to say.  Did you feel like he was listening to you without actually hearing what you had to say?

He's supposed to be one of the best docs in Dallas, but yah I think he was kinda dismissive, I'll bring it up again in 2 months when I go back. What are your experiences, will cream do the job?

I think the consensus on the forum between the guys is that the cream/gel doesn't show results as quickly as injections.

Personally I did think that the Androgel smelled really good on my arms and I probably sniffed myself for a good hour after applying it initially.  But yeah, that's all I have to say about that ...

It's not Androgel, it's a compound, don't know it that makes a difference.

Thanks Rex, I'm tired and think I look like a tard. LOL

I only know what I've read about it.  Some pharmacists say they can compound a testosterone cream that's equal in potency to AndroGel, but since this is done by hand, the dosages of the cream can vary by batch.  The cream I believe is significantly cheaper though.  All I know, hope that helps!

How much slower is it supposed to work and oh, should I be pumping or is that a myth?

I think a lot has to do with your natural levels to start (everyone's different) but the results seemed delayed in comparison to the results obtained through injections.

I've always considered pumping to be "to each his own" kind of thing.  If you want to, go ahead, but read up on how to do it safely first.

hey dude you should read this: http://transhealth.vch.ca/resources/library/tcpdocs/consumer/hormones-FTM.pdf (http://transhealth.vch.ca/resources/library/tcpdocs/consumer/hormones-FTM.pdf) to get more familiar with what you're using, and what you could be using (as well as a timeline difference of effects and such)

Congrats

the only info I have to offer is about the cream.  My friend has been on T for 47 weeks, the first 37 was cream.  His voice only started dropping when he started injections.  And now his changes are really coming.  But ymmv

Thanks for all the congrats, and thanks for the pamphlet ilovetodrinktea. Next appointment with my doc I'm going to get him to give me injections or I'm finding a new one, I guess this way it eases me onto the hormones though.

Seeing a new doc, she put me on injections right away. That was on the 8th and I already see quicker changes. Too bad I have to wait until after surgery for my next dose.

Congrats! I was told by my Dr. when I started T that the injections were better because at that time I didn't have a hysto yet and that you needed I higher dose to compete with the female hormones.  I am on Androgel now but I had a hysto and don't need the high dose anymore.  If your Dr. is good he will do blood work to check your levels once you have been using the T for a little.

Brandon, how old are you? How did you find a surgeon to do your hyster?  I assume you had all your internal parts removed.  I am 22 and will be looking for a surgeon in about 2 yrs for a total hyster.
