Common outcomes = Depression, Family break-ups, Job loses, Rejection, Ridicule, Suicides...

::) So, if you could wave a magic wand and make everybody "bi-gendered" ...would you ?

Bi-gender seems a very schizophrenic way of life, I seek unity in things, wouldn't want to have myself riven between male-ish and female-ish. Prefer to discount the idea of the opposites and unite 'em.

Speaking of Star Trek, this thread reminds me of that episode where a female-identified alien is discriminated against because her species "evolved" beyond gender a long time ago.

But to answer the original question, No, I would not make this a bi-gendered world. I don't think that would really help.

Nope males and females are just fine with me.  Bi-gendered, how boring would that be?  But then the sex may be interesting and I guess if someone were to say "Go f--k yourself" one would be able to do it.

Yeah I remember that one, where her people thought there was something wrong with her because she wanted to be distinctly female.

My first thought upon reading this thread was that if you had the power to alter people like that, you could just make them all more understanding and accepting. People wouldn't need to be "bi-gendered" then.

I was thinking more along the lines of:  waving a magic wand to give them the wrong body until they are all more understanding and accepting.

Then again, I have a particular notion of justice.  Everybody should be glad that magic wands do not exist, or I would turn this world into complete chaos.

Nope.....because "not everyone keeps their genitals in the same place"  ;)

I can imagine a Androgyn future, instead. Less confliction. More fun.

no. I like true diversity. I like male and female differences and roles.

But I'm foolish to like it because nature has made 2 genders to make life more competitive for us. Males have to compete with other males. Females have to compare with other females.  :-\

I would be happy if people weren't so damned ignorant! :o 

An understanding and accepting world would be preferable to any other options.  I like the fact that there is diversity.  Different 'roles' for different people :)

While an androgynous person retains the same gender-typed behaviour across situations, the bigendered person consciously or unconsciously changes their gender-role behaviour from primarily masculine to primarily feminine, or vice versa.
It is worth noting that this concept emerged from within the transgender community itself, rather than being adopted after it was created by another sub-culture (for example, transsexual was defined first by the mental health community).

Because bigender is still a self-applied label, it is not possible to give a definitive outline of the typical bigendered person. Any description of a bigendered person is just an example of what someone who identifies as bigender might be like. After reading the above bit carefully, I think there is a little bit of "I don't want to be called androgyne so I will make a new name and call it bigender".   I dont agree with the simplistic definition of androgyne as its listed above either.
