Title: Portland hair salon?

Kind of a long shot, but I was wondering if there is anyone out there who can recommend a transgender/queer-positive salon in Portland. While it would seem that most are "tolerant" or "understanding" or "supportive", I have not had much success finding a place with a fair amount of experience in working with MTF dilemmas. My hair is getting longish now and I don't want to blow it with a bad haircut. :o
Thanks,
Carinne

Try to contact Victoria Sinclar (http://www.victoriasrainbow.tv/home.html) and see if she knows anyone. She runs a service for Transwoman and Cross-dressers. She is a sweet lady.

Wow, I just did a Google search to try to get an answer to exactly the same question and found this post.
Also in Portland. Calling Victoria Sinclair is a good idea that I had not thought of, but if anyone knows a specific hair dresser that is good, please let me know!
Thanks!

Hi,
For the last 3 years, I have been going to Carla,
the owner of Royal Hair Designs in Beaverton (west of Portland)
She enjoys working with MTF clients and has a private salon, just one client at a time.
This works great for me as I'm not full-time. She is also an expert on hair systems for girls like me who have lost too much frontal hairline, but have long hair every where else.

I believe she also will work with hair pieces but you should call and ask.

Hi,
Sorry for the slow response (up to my ____ at work after taking a week off).
Dutchess: Carla's prices are very affordable.
HthrRsln: Your very welcome, I'm glad you enjoyed working with Carla.
And you are correct she does human hair systems (that is how I meet her)
I found a new luxurious treat! I had Carla do Eyelash Extensions for me and my wife just before going up for a whole week of being myself at the Esprit Transgender conference in Port Angeles, WA.
They looked natural and fabulous, so much better than False Eyelashes.
