Hi,
My Name is Sharon Samantha Lothian, this is now my legal name as I have changed it by law. I live in Alice Springs, which is located down the southern end of the Northern Territory, in the centre of Australia. I am a MTF pre-op Transsexual (I sometimes also use the umbrella term Transgender woman) , just started on hormones 12/02/07 and I am living full time as a woman. I finally came to the truth about myself about mid June last year, and decided to start living as much as possible as a woman, this was hard as I was still living at my parents home, and they don't like the idea of me becoming a woman, I was also unemployed. In September I did get a temp Job as a filing clerk, and with the permission of my supervisor, I attended as a woman, I was even treated as one of the girls by my co-workers, unfortunately my contracted ended on the 20th of December. On the 2nd of December, I finally moved out of home after 32 yrs and into a one bedroom unit, so I can now leave home in dresses or skirts and makeup, when ever I want.
Since making this decision, I have lost weight, I am more confidant, happy and outgoing, I have had no real problems presenting as a woman in public, most people treat me as any other woman, including being called miss or ma'am, this is even true for most of the people I grew up with, in fact, they think this was the best thing for me to do, and some have even told me they knew that this was the real me but didn't know how to broach the subject with out offending me, and are glad that I finial come to terms with myself, even my relationship with my sister is better, we are a lot closer now, doing things that sister's would do together, things that I would have never done before, like having a coffee or lunch together and chatting.
Another event that just happened to me is that last Friday Morning, at about 2 am, I went to emergency at our local hospital with back and stomach pains, It was found that I had a kidney stone and my heart was betting erratically due to an infection caused by the stone, everything eventually settled down about 2pm on Friday, I was moved to a ward for observation, and left at 6pm Saturday, the good thing about this is that I was treated and listed as a woman and was allowed to wear a nightie to bed, now, I use to work at this hospital as a PSA, and some of my co-workers are still working there, and they think it was the best decision I have made.
Things have defiantly gotten better, the only problem is that I am no longer welcome at my parents house, and they won't accept me as a woman, but I think they will come around, once they see that nobody is worrying that I, now, consider myself a woman.
One thing I would like to do is to try and start some sort of support group for the gurls in town, as I am sure there are a few of us in town, and some could use the support, I am lucky I have got a lot of friends now that I can turn to, if I need a talk or a shoulder to cry on.
Well that's it for now.
Hugs And Kisses
Sharon
PS I have a Yahoo360 website which is http://360.yahoo.com/sslothian

Welcome to Susan's Sharon.
We have a couple of active members from the land of Oz, and I'm sure that they will make you feel right at home. That is a great intro and it is similar to others here. I hope that you enjoy your stay with us and that you make some lasting relationships. We have a wide variety of members from a wide variety of countries, although the majority of the membership is from the USA. You will quickly find out that they have a wide variety of interests.
Take the time to explore the site, the rules that govern us, and the other area's such as the Wiki (our knowledge base), the wacky world of Chat (Our live online chat - actually I'm not really sure what goes on there as they all seem to talk in code :) ).
So again welcome, enjoy your stay, and just remember that we are here for you.

Wellcome to Susans,
Alice Springs is nice part of the work to visit - I do not know about living there. I travelled through the NT a couple of years back - it was such a nice trip.
I am from Canberra - that place filled with awfull politicians. I have been living here for about 10 years now.
Glad you found us here. I will have a look on Yahoo360.
