I am interested in the Kennedy assassination are you?   I know that there are a few Texan people here so they maybe interested in this as well. 

  What do you want to know?  Jack or Bobby?  You did mention Texans, I assume you meant the one on Jack on Nov 22, 1963 in Dallas, TX.  This was and still is one the most things written or conjectured on this event than anything in US history.  The conspiracy theorists are still having a field day over this.  I feel that the Warren Commission was right in the assessment of this event.  The Baby Boomers (myself) and older remember this event and what they were doing that moment.  Remember, this also spawned the first assassination on live TV on that Sunday of the suspect Lee Harvey Oswald.  I saw that as it happened.  I also served on the USS JFK and remembered her Christening by young Caroline.  I got more than a vested interest in the man.

I wasn't born yet, but whenever it's mentioned around my grandmother she always says that he got whacked. She's sure of it and says the truth will come out one of these days.

My mom was only 4 at the time and has very hazy memories of it all, but my dad was 12.  He became rabidly right-wing (and I mean rabid) about 20 years ago and it's got worse over the years.  Last he talked about Kennedy was about three years ago, and he said it was one of the best things that happened to this country and wished the same thing would happen to Obama.  My stepmom concurred.  Then both said this country would be better if we kicked the [about ten racial and ethnic slurs here] out of this country, repealed women's rights, repealed worker's rights, reverse the entire New Deal, and gave more money to the rich so they'll create jobs for people like my unemployed dad and stepmom.

Yeah, I'm glad they're out of my life.

I was a high school freshman when John Kennedy was assasinated. Word spread during the afternoon. By the time I got to homeroom it was a fact. My teacher was crestfallen. The CIA and FBI were responsible just as they were in Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King's demise.   

I was still living in the US at the time of Kennedy's murder. It was a terrible time. Kennedy had been very popular.

In recent years I've heard some going on about Kennedy being a crook, a womaniser and just about anything else to justfy the view that would justify Kennedy as a bad prsident.

Whatever their political attitudes, to seek to justify the murder of a President is a terrible thing to suggest and is more anti-American than anything the Taliban might say.

I really dispair for the US right wing.

President kennedey force the nukes out of Cuba and was about to remove US troops from Vietnam. Rummor is he was killed by allll the companies that would have lost monies by stopping the war.

The moment?
  I was in the fifth grade, with that teacher my mom tangled with later on I mentioned in the other threads.  We were at lunch on that Black Friday and the teachers that were monitoring the lunchroom were very quiet and was disturbed by something.  My friend Eddie came up and said that the president has been shot in Dallas.  The buzz around that table was of that. 
  We finished our lunch and went out to the playground to play.  We did play as normally kids do would and were not at the time conscience of the gravity of the situation.  About 15 minutes later we saw other students and teachers start to gather around the fl->-bleeped-<-ole.  We all stopped playing and ran to the fl->-bleeped-<-ole to see what the todo was about.   The school color guard came out and the principal told them to bring it down half way.  That's when the female teachers started crying.  We were sent to our classes and then to the common meeting rooms and saw the coverage on TV.  We were sent home about 1 hour earlier than usual.   

That weekend?
  That Saturday I did not remember much except no cartoons because both TV and radio was still covering everything continously until Late that Monday.  It was probably that indelible thing I saw that Sunday. 
  Sunday, still looking for cartoons early that morning but saw the coverage from the White House of JFK's stuff being moved out to a truck van in the rain.  The rocking chair with the presidential seal and the large model of the Mercury spacecraft that John Glenn flew in to usher my interest in science, mainly the space program and astronomy to this day.  The coverage of that ended with more droning from the newsmen and then abruptly changed to coverage inside of the basement of the Dallas Police Department building.  The reporter droned on and then the action around the elevator increased as with the voice of the reporter.  I then looked up at the TV and the police detective in the light coat was escorting Oswald out and towards the police wagon.  The rest happened so quickly that I was at first oblivious of what happened. 
  I watched as the flurry of activity was occuring.  I saw someone come toward Oswald and heard a shot and saw Oswald disappear as he fell to the ground almost taking the detective with him.   I heard all kinds of stuff I remember to this day and one of them was "Son of a bitch" by someone involved in the fracas.  A lot of the live audio nuances did not make it on the recordings due to the poorer quality of the recording devices back then.  I found out later when one of the first glossy coffee table books of the JFK assassination came out and that a detective, not Leavelle, actually said "Jack Ruby, you son of a bitch!".  Jack Ruby was well known by the DPD as the nightclub owner that gave police officers discounts and free passes to his establishment.  He was well known in that building and was a familiar fixture, so he went unnoticed. 
 
The funeral.
  This was on Monday.  I remember the horse drawn carriage going down to Arlington cemetary and the drummers and that same drum cadence along the way that I still remember.  The 21 gun salute, the "Missing man" flyover, and the folded coffin flag given to Jackie, the new widow.  The flags were held at half staff for a month afterward.  The schools were closed the 3 school days leading up to Thanksgiving afterward.

Epilogue:
  I read all of the investigations from the official and those of the conspiracy theorists and this is what I found.

  1) Both Lee Harvey Oswald and Jack Ruby both acted alone.  Oswald planned this on his own.  Ruby on a whim. 
  2) The Soviets or even Castro did not get involved in Oswald's scheme nor knew anything about it.  The KGB thought that he was worthless after Oswald defected to the Soviet Union and he and his Russian wife Marina was let go after Oswald got disillusioned by the Russians.  Oswald was rebuffed by the Soviets when he tried to contact their embassy in Mexico City. 
  3) Jack Ruby was not that actively involved with The Mob.  He has some very loose associations with them in the past and was known as a "Wise guy", a groupie, for lack of a better description.  They were glad this self-promoting guy leave NYC for Dallas and gave him money more or less as a gift to just leave them alone.  Ruby was just a gnat to them.
  4) Dorothy Kilgallen, the only reporter who interviewed Ruby, was found dead in her apartment.  A lot of the conjecture I discounted from other sources but the official findings, other mysteries of her death are still there.  Her notes and drafts of the interview with Ruby were missing.  One of the mysteries I've found here.  I remember her as a regular panelist with Arlene Frances and Bennett Cerf on the show "What's My Line".  That guess what occupation or who game show was a very popular Sunday night TV show.  She did write controversial articles on controversial events.  Her case is still unsettling to me. 

Me afterward:
  There were a lot of places and things named after JFK in the 60's.  One was an aircraft carrier.  I saw a live broadcast of the ship being slipped into the water after Caroline christened it.  At that time I didn't even imagine that I would be attached to a squadron and actually serve on her for 3 years.  Yeah, we all complained about sea duty but I would not trade my experience on her for anything!  One of my best memories is that we were in home port in Norfolk and my Chief asked me if I want to volunteer to help paint the island.  I said yes because of nothing else to do and went up to the flight deck to do so.  We ended up doing maintenance on the number on the port side of the island by painting it and replacing the lamps and the broken protective globes over the lamps on a rickety scaffold on wheels.  Yes!  I painted the "67"!  USS John F Kennedy CV-67.  That was the last thing I saw over the shoulders of the personnel and out the window of the C-2 I was in that was catapulted off when I left.

Oh i am not as happy about Obama as president but he was a hell of a lot better than McCain because he at least gave some hope to many black people. However, he was probably used for that purpose to calm the black people down during this time as the world gains money and wealth and the american people lose wealth. Which has to happen to give balance to 3rd world countries. However, then all the world will be the same and then all peoples will be gradually made to feel life isn't worth having families etc etc and so the masses of the world will be reduced as computers and robots take over most of the worlds work. Those of you who want to find some safety net should get rid of your middle class house asap and get some farm land to be as self suffiecent as possible asap.
