Title: Vaniqa
Post by: Cadence Jean on September 26, 2011, 10:13:38 PM
Hi all!  I'm just wondering if anybody has had experience with this cream or any other cream meant to prevent the growth of hair.  I'm having electro performed, but it's expensive and slow going.  I understand the cream wouldn't be permanent.  I'm hoping that it might get me through transition, and then at a later date when I'm more comfortable with my presentation, I can start letting patches grow out and have them zapped.

I used it for a while, and didn't find it very effective, and it gave me a rash (and it was expensive!) so I stopped.  Granted, this was in the earlier stages of transition where my hair was much thicker and very characteristic male terminal hair.  If I were to use it now on the thin, spindly brown hairs that will occasionally pop up on my upper lip, I think I would find it much more useful.

My HRT doctor suggested it, but really for electro I'm at the point where I want the hairs to grow more quickly so they can zap 'em. Vaniqa seems counter productive.

I had laser done first though, and got rid of almost all of the dark hairs that way (I was half dark half blond), so even growing the hair out for electro, it isn't visible without a direct overhead light. If you are less far along I can see why it might be useful.

Is all of your facial hair light? If not, get LHR for the dark, and like Sarah7 sez, you can let the light hair grow out and shave. Better to get it zapped now rather than later. Continue with the lip and chin and at least get them cleared, do the sides and neck later. You'll save in the long run.
