For thousands of transgender persons in India, working in an office has always been a dream -- but a city-based firm is all set to make this a reality.
For the first time in the country, an ambitious vocational training programme for transgenders has been initiated here by Stenographers Guild, a recruitment firm.
S V Ramaswamy, its honorary president, said, "Our programme aims to impart office management skills to around 2,000 trans-sexual people in two years."
As a first step, the Guild began training the first batch of 20 people from February 19. The two-month course covers MS Office, front office management, data processing, spoken English, presentation and language skills.
