A 13-year-old from South Jersey recently chose to reveal to a national audience that he's transgendered.
"I always felt like I was a boy," said Chris Mari, whose name was Julia when his life began 13 years ago.

"(She said) she'd rather be dead than go to school as a girl. That was the hardest thing to hear," said Karina Mari.
By the middle of sixth grade, Chris -- still Julia at the time -- had gotten so uncomfortable about not fitting in at school that his mom decided to homeschool him.
