Last friday I went for a consultation for electrolysis, it was a long journey (1/2 hr on train, 1/2 hr on the bus followed by a very long walk). When I got off the bus I started following my directions taken from google maps but as the place was in the middle of the countryside hardly any roads had road signs.
After walking for about 20min I asked someone for directions, he said I was going the wrong way so I did a U turn & followed his directions (big mistake), after asking directions from several people I ended up back where I first asked for directions & found out I was 5 minutes walk away from my destination.
The appointment went well, the woman was very understanding & the test patch she did was fine, i've heard many people say that electrolosys can be painfull but it's not a patch on the pain of my excema when it's in full swing, I occassionaly felt a slight burning but this was very brief. I've had no reaction to the treatment since then so my only hurdle is the eye watering cost.
When I reached the train station I phoned a friend & popped round for a coffee, she had a friend round visiting but she was very understanding about what i'm going through & we all chatted for an hour or so, even though I was in boy mode I really felt like one of the girls having a natter over a coffee.
Then when I got home I had a letter from the Gender Identity Clinic in London, it contained my first appointment for late March next year, it may be a long wait but I don't care, the important thing is that I now have an appointment & things are moving forward.
This 5 month wait I have gives me time to rebuild my life & give my mum time to learn to accept whats happening in my life.
All in all it was a very good day for me.

Just so happy for you Jane,
It's a real affirmation when those dates start rolling in, isn't it. Believe me the time will absolutely fly between now and March. Next it will be RLE then ........ then ........ then it'll be all over and done. You'll arrived. Just in time to start your new journey. The woman you were destined to be.
Keep up the great work. Keep in touch and let us know how you are coping.
Be safe, well and happy
Lotsa luv
Catherine
