Title: Deleting Posts?

I was going to just PM an admin but was unsure who to ask this to. Is it okay to just remove topics in my blog? I know it affects peoples post counts so I wasn't sure if I was allowed to just delete the entire topic or if I should edit the original post to be blank.
I put a lot of information on this site (thoughts, poetry, etc) and I feel like it's time to remove some of it. So how should I go about this?
Also for pictures, should I just remove the pic from the hosting site or remove the post here as well or am I just over thinking all of this. Thanks!

If your the creator of a topic, you have the right to remove it. This will delete all the responses to it, but that's generally a sensible thing, as the comments are out of context without the original post.
As for pictures, you can "modify" your post and take out the link to the picture if you want to keep the post but remove the picture.
I wouldn't worry too much about affecting people's post counts - we're all way more concerned about our reputation points :). Hmm, I assume that removing a post that has a reputation point linked to it will not affect the reputation point itself - I'll check on that.

This is true - we keep deleted posts accessible to staff in case they're relevant to resolving disputes between users.

That does make sense. It actually makes me feel safer that way.
Really I'm just wanting to get rid of them so that the general public do not come across them and out me in the future should I end up living stealth. So I'll just remove the posts. Thank you though Fairygirl :)

Yes, burn them down and salt the earth!!!
Ahem :). Just overwriting before deleting would do it, as suggested, if you want them to disappear completely. I can't say for sure that they won't get cached internally (or by google etc. if they're in public forum sections). The internet's a bit of a lobster pot, easy in, difficult out.
