Title: What plans do you have for Trans Day of Rememberence ?
Post by: eshaver on October 27, 2011, 08:52:25 AM
Trans- Day of Remembrance is approaching . Yes , it's a day to reflect upon those who we have lost due to hate . Still, we can honor those who have helped educate , and those who have done something to benefit us as a whole . What are you're thoughts ? ellen

I'll be at the Boston observances as usual.

Here's some info on what's going on where:

Worldwide Transgender Day of Remembrance observances (http://www.transgenderdor.org/)
Massachusetts Transgender Day of Remembrance observances (http://www.masstpc.org/events/tdor/)

I will be attending a candle lighting TDOR service in my state. I volunteered to read name last year, and will do the same again.

I hadn't specifically planned anything. I even forgot when it was.  :embarrassed:

Oh, wow.
Renate, I just checked that website. There are several in Texas, which is incredible to me, but none in my state!
Hmm. I'll have to just light a candle at home, or even point the day out to my parents so that they can pray.

I'll spend a large part of that in prayer and meditation in remembrance of our fallen brothers and sisters.

Oh WoW, I didn't know it existed. I saw nothing in Australia. I might have to stir the girls and boys up to see if we can at least do a letter drop to the newspapers to bring up the concept.

I attend a Unitarian Universalist church.  We always have a candlelight vigil on TDR, and the next Sunday service is always about it.  This is fairly standard at UU churches.  I strongly recommend TG people check out their local UU church.  See my blog post: https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,95958.0.html (https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,95958.0.html)
