Title: Temperature sensitivity

HRT seems to be making me very sensitive to temperature changes.
I tend to sweat and feel cold simultaneously and am much more sensitive to cold temperatures.
Has anyone else had experiences like this? Is it normal with estros or a symptom that something is wrong?

Hi Taru:
What is happening is your metabolism is changing; loss of muscle, fat etc. As a result you are loosing our insulation as well. That will make you more sensitive to temperatures. I know Steph went through this and now there's always a battle with the thermostat between us.

Gil,
Thank you!! The same thing is happening in our home. Our personal thermostats seem to be on opposite ends of the spectrum. Makes life interesting.

So I can blame all that on the hormones? Coooool!
I try not to complain though and I try to use the advice I always gave spouse when she complained about it being cold, "Put on a sweater then!" although lately she's been complaining that I keep it too warm around here!! That's really funny because in the past just eating would raise me a sweat in the summertime.
I actually like the feelings though because they are an indicator of my physical progress.

One of the side effects of HRT is that there is definitely a thining of te skin and folks taking HRT should be warned the they will be more sensitive to the sun, therefore the dangers of sunburn increase. This may be a contributing factor/

I can be freezing at 78 degrees and burning up at 75 degrees. But then, my doctor blames that on my thyroid (she just increased my doseage of thyroid medication).

This is interesting because I haven't started HRT. But I have lost a lot of weight. I've noticed that I'm cold a lot. This is a first for me. I usually swelter in the heat. Sarah Louise is right, this can be a thryoid problem. Mine checks out OK, though.

Wanted to revive this old thread because the past week I feel like I'm freezing most of the time! I'v been 39 days on spiro and 6 days on estradiol. I read that sensitivity to cold might be due to low pressure which can be caused by diuretics (such as spiro), thoughts?

Yep, unlike years before, I nearly froze to death last year at harvest time here in Switzerland.
It definitely make us more sensitive to heat differences.
My brother was ther in t-shirt lol
