Title: Hips
Post by: AndromedaVox on November 02, 2011, 09:27:14 AM
Hey this is a question I have for MTFs who have been on hormones.

Okay, so I was on hormones for 3 years before surgery, then I went off of them for 3 years, and I started again in August so I've been on them for a couple of months.

I am happy with my breasts and fairly happy with my butt, but I would really like to have more fat distribution in the hip department. I think hips are really attractive, and also really help in terms of looking like a woman I think. Can any of you speak to your experiences in terms of hip development while on HRT? Since I am restarting hormones do you think it's possible that I could see some more fat distribution in that area?

Thanks!
AV

I got some fat redistribution but not a significant amount. I think most of us don't unless you start HRT before puberty does it's damage. But I could be wrong.

What jen said

It is possible to have esthetic surgeries to improve the area, but HRT won't give ya much hips.

I've only been on HRT for three months, and while I certainly do not have the amazing curves I'd love to have, there is a noticeable hourglass shape starting to form that even others have commented on without my asking, and I have gained 1" in my overall hip size.  I'm not sure the specifics of why some get results and others don't, but perhaps body shape prior to HRT plays a part?  I am a very skinny person and was even pre-HRT, so I don't think I had much body fat to redistribute.  My theory is that since I've been on HRT, I've been attempting to gain weight so perhaps instead of HRT causing fat to redistribute (as again, there was none), it's simply going right where it's supposed to be.  But hell, I dunno.

Makes sense.

I was lucky enough to start off in a good place due to my bone structure, but I've only gained an inch on HRT. 9 1/2 months in so I could see more happen, dunno.

Well mine have increased and rounded up some too.

What I tried to say is it won't give you large very feminine hips.

my waist went from 32" down to 24" and my hips from 31" up to 33". 1 year and 2 months on hrt. I'm pretty happy with it.

I also got the slimmed down waist at about 3 months but I only got decent hips when I let my weight climb a bit.

I decided to start working out to feminize my body further. HRT only goes so far if we don't work for our bodies as well.

Like all women, by the way.

^Hey, does working out help to feminize our bodies when on hormones? I have never heard of that before, would be great to know. :)

If you work your lower body muscles, they will get bigger and you will have more well rounded legs and hips.

Hormones affect everyone differently.

some people will blossom drastically.

That's not always true.
My body shape is starting to resemble the females on my dad's side of the family.
I get pretty much everything from him.

My mom and dad are shorties, I'm taller than both of them lol.

I think I look more like the females from my dad's side though, both face and body wise. That means I will be thin and will always have problems to put up muscles or fat.

It was like this before HRT too, btw. No matter how much I worked out, I -would- get strenght gains but no visible muscle.

What Bird said.

Look into the types of exercises that ice skaters/hockey players do. Than start roller bladeing.

Hip development from HRT depends on a few factors, age, genetics, and body shape. Some people try'n and say that after puberty ends (around age 24-25 for males) that bone structure completely fuses together thus no growth bone wise after this point - not true. I've seen alot of hip growth after starting HRT and i'm 25!  :o

^^Did you just start HRT!? I am 24 now and just started a few months ago and I am already seeing my hips opening up a little bit, I hope that continues on from here and they become more open.

I've been on hormones for 18 months and have only noticed a slight increase in hips (maybe 1 inch). My butt on the other hand...popped out of nowhere! Like WHOA!

But was that actually your hip BONES changing shape? Or just the muscle/fat around your hips?

I'm skinny as a rail and had like no muscle/fat there even before HRT. I'm on a low cal diet so i know it's not fat.

It's all in the hips baby!  :icon_joy:

How long have you been on Hormones btw?! I turned 24 in April and started HRT this past September, so it hasn't been long at all.

I've been on hormones for about 9 ½ months now. Yeah just give it time, if you don't see any hip growth after 1-3 years of HRT then there's a good chance you won't at all.

It all depends on the individual.  :P

^^Awesome, thanks for the info. I hope to see more growth as my HRT journey continues, like I said, I have only been on hormones for about 2 1/2 months now. ;)

I should probably add that i'm also on progesterone which may or may not be helping stimulate hip growth.

Thanks for all of the replies you guys! I started HRT in high school and saw virtually zero breast/hip growth, but once I got to college I gained a bit of weight, and now my hips are a little bigger. However, my mom even has small hips and ass so I don't think I have much to look forward to in that department. :/

I will start doing lower body exercises to see if that helps!

I would have to agree that there is a possibility that hip bones might grow after the age of 25. I can attest to that.

Even though I can't say my pelvis has grown in size, my femur that connects to my hip joint has changed in shape and has grown out to the side slightly. This would explain why I can put my feet together and my knees would be touching now when before HRT I wasn't able to do so. My hips also ache time to time when I wake up in the morning. Perhaps they're still growing. :)

^^I have also noticed recently, my side around my hip area is sore some days, especially when I first get up in the morning. I wonder if that has anything to do with HRT and my hips. I am 24 and only been on HRT for about 2 1/2 months.

I started hormones at 26 and am now 28, but I seem to be having some hip growth too.  Granted mine were already wide, but I've been feeling pain that feels like it's in the bone over the past several months.  It lasts for up to an hour or two at a time, but then goes away for at least a few days so I know it's not caused by a health problem.  I dunno what to do if they get much bigger - it's already hard to put on pants sometimes.

^That is exactly what is happening with me. I feel pain in the hip area for a few hours at a time and then it goes away for a few days.
