Title: Were your last periods the most awful of your life?

I hate calling them periods, but whatever...regardless, I was wondering if those of you on testosterone had the worst periods of your life before they finally stopped from the T? Or is it just me and my amazing organs. Thanks.

After I started T, when I was due for my next period, I lightly spotted for about 2 weeks and that was it. No more monthly visits again. But from reading on here, it seems that some people experience what you do. Just remember that it will (hopefully) be over soon.
Now after almost 2 years of being on T, I sort of forget I ever had to go through that on a monthly basis and it's pretty weird to think about.

The worst one was about a year before starting T. I lasted about 5 months and put me in a hospital where the doctor ignored me. It stopped after being put on birth control which caused me to act way different.
I had 3 or 4 shark weeks on T. All were pretty bad because I was expecting it to stop.

I started T in the beginning of April, had one period the next week which was bad but no worse than normal (for me, anyways), one the second week of May that was lighter, one the first week of June that was even lighter, and then 2 weeks after that another one that only lasted 2 days, and that was the last one. So mine got lighter befor they stopped but more frequent.

Relatively speaking, yeah. Mine almost never caused me much physical pain at all. I would just have cramps for a day or two, and I could knock those out with Tylenol just fine. I would get a bit more emotional, but nothing like what you hear about from other people. And that's about it. I kept having them after T but they caused me more pain, made me feel laggier, and basically just disconnected from everything. Didn't help that like Nygeel said, I was expecting them to stop, so them showing up like clockwork every month made it that much more distressing. The last one I had was really light though so I think it's finally stopping.

I had at least two or three after starting testosterone and I was so upset because they'd generally been mild before so the fact that they were so persistent was pretty upsetting. Otherwise, no, I suppose I've been relatively lucky. They usually were light, lasting about four days and entirely pain free. I don't really know what cramps are even like. I suppose I was lucky in that way at least.

This is what's happening to me now :( I can't stand being on birth control but my red death is out of control and doctors seem to just want me to, for lack of a better phrase, man up about it.

I didn't even notice I missed my period the first month I started T...until I realized I wasn't in immense pain and couldn't remember having it. So, no, it was actually great. My last period wasn't as bad as my usual one's either.

I just wanted to say YES. Well, not necessarily the worst, but way worse than normal. I'd actually started my period the day before I went on t, and it lasted over twice as long as usual. But that was the last one. My endo mentioned it beforehand and basically said that the initial effects t will have on your period can vary a lot, but having worse periods for a bit was definitely possible. Unless it keeps happening for months and months, I'd blame your body just getting adjusted to the t.

Nope, just annoying... Though I'm still getting them. T made me more regular... period every 3 or so weeks... that was annoying. I've had two spaces of 6 to 10 weeks though where I didnt get a period.. then they'd come back. On one right now.. been on T since... January?

I'm having the most awful period of my life right now. Not on T until next month, but I had tubal ligation about a month ago and this is my first real period since then. It hurts bad and the blood is a tidal wave.
Not exactly relevant to the OP's question, I know.

I feel for you, Felix, it must be hard feeling this way. I have heard that many women have heavy painful periods after a tubal. Hopefully you will start t soon and end them for good.

The worst one I had was 6 months before I started T. It was five weeks long. Very light, but still way longer than I could handle.

I was extremely lucky in this sense because my last one was a month before I started T. I was expecting to get them for at least three months after starting T (since that is what I was told), but I never had one since. I am afraid that acknowledging this fact is going to jinx it and I will magically start bleeding. But the thought of never having one again is sooo comforting. They were very heavy and stressful for me.

My period came a couple of days after my first shot (I wasn't on blockers either) and it was the same as always. I think it might have ended a bit quicker though cant remember but after that I never got one again. Happy days ;D

I'd actually not had a period for about three years due to illness, but after starting T they came back briefly. It wasn't heavy, just some very light spotting, but it was a pretty nasty shock. It lasted about two weeks but next month everything was fine.
I don't know if that's helpful, but I reckon that if T can cause them to come back after such a long time then it certainly seems possible that it could briefly make them heavier. It's horrible and I feel for you, but do try to just grit your teeth and wait it out. :( If things don't improve, maybe go and have a chat with your doctor to check everything's okay with your levels and such.

As for the actual question, no My last period wasn't that bad, but none of them really were pain wise.

A few months after starting T, I began to spot every single day, accompanied by intense pain.
My testosterone levels are so high and estrogen levels are so low that doctors have remarked that it should not be possible for that to be happening to me. Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) and Leuteinizing Hormone (LH) can play a role in triggering the shed of uterine lining (gah I hate that word, but trying to convey this as accurately as possible) yet when doctors checked these levels in me, they were lower than they are in ANY group of healthy people (women, post-menopause, preg women, and men). This must mean my testosterone levels are so normal that my body does not see a lack of hormones and is not producing its own.
That's odd, because still the bleeding continues. CT Scan and ultrasound do not show an obvious cause, such as hole/hernia, tumor, big fibroids, or any other cause.
I have been taking antibiotics because they found small amounts of abnormal bacteria which may signal internal infection or bladder infection. Since taking them, I have had 3 pain-free days, but the bleeding has still not stopped.
Medical mystery.
Usually lining won't shed when it is thin either, and mine is 0.2-0.4CM aka 2-4 MM. This is the normal thickness of lining in someone postmenopausal. It's very confusing. Has anyone else had a time where they went through 3-4 months of constant spotting after starting T? Is this what happens when your reproductive organs shut down?

Whoops! Sorry, I feel like a total moron. Saw the most recent reply was posted today and didn't even think to check the date of the original post. I'm dumb.
Still, it never hurts to have more posts even after such a long time — who knows, there may be something here that will help someone in the future :)

I am still having shark week every three months. I am on depo P. for over a year and T for 10 months. My uterus lining is normal for a premenopausal woman and both my ovaries are still working. We uppped my T hoping that it would kick me into menopause -- but if not I believe my doctor is going to push for a hysto saying it's a medical necessity

I can sort of understand why you would want one, but trust me they're horrible. Especially if you have painful ones, I was reduced to crawling on the floor several times.

I got my last one about a week and a half after starting T. It was no heavier than normal, but I could legitimately feel the T and the E fighting in my body and I had the worst cramps I had ever had in my life. So glad it's over. And I 2nd what someone else has already said; even though it's only been 5 months I tend to forget I used to go through to and the thought of the fact that I DID is really weird now.

I had (have..) PCOS and would get periods with months apart. It was always exciting to see when it would stop by. :p I bled a lot and it was pretty painful during the first days. The worst periods were the ones I had after starting with the Gender clinic, but before starting T. See, my body thought it would be a laugh to give me my period a day or two before every friggin appointment, so that I could sit on a plane/bus being worried about whether or not I could make it to a restroom fast enough when I got up, and then sit in pain and be supergrumpy while talking with the therapists. Fun times!
I had my last period the same week I started T-gel, and it hasn't been heard from since.
Ok not entirely true, I still get random "twinges" similar to the ones I used to get when it was due, but it stops there. I still don't feel entirely safe. Soon getting rid of the equipment, can't wait for it!

When I started T, I took my first shot on the day I started my period.
It was strange, because they usually lasted about a week, like average ones.
But, that last one only lasted three days. It didn't hurt any more, but like...it looked different, like...it was purple.
You didn't need to know that.
But it was the first period I got after stopping T that hurt like a bitch.
I felt like I was dying...and I had bad periods before, but this was like nothing I ever went through. It was awful.
If you ever stop T, be prepared for the worst.

Well interestingly enough the antibiotics I have been taking seem to have eliminated the painful cramping I have been having, and I stopped bleeding about two days before top surgery, which was yesterday. Whatever happened is very odd, but I am glad it seems to be getting better and possibly ending!

The last few I had were painful but not as unbearable as they were pre t. Pre T they were like falling off a bike and the last few were like a punch in the stomach. They were pretty bad because I felt like I shouldn't have them and its that whole feeling that they are almost over that makes it worse. Like the feeling of it being the last 5 minutes of class because you know how close freedom is.
