Another resident, Ross Herman who supported Stanton, accused the commission of convicting the manager in a "kangaroo court inquisition ... a rush to judgment" and said those voting to fire Stanton "caved in to a mob mentality."
City Attorney Alan Zimmet said that if Stanton doesn't ask for a public hearing, the commission could vote at any time to finalize his termination. If Stanton asks for a hearing, though, it would have to be held within 30 days and would then be followed by commission action.
Appearing on local television, Stanton has repeatedly said he didn't know if he would seek a public hearing.
"If there is one, it will be educational," he said. "It will focus on educating people about transgender issues and how this would affect the city."

"I said I don't care if he changes species," Holmes said. "I made it perfectly clear that I don't care. I said he should be fired because he kept this a secret. The only issue is what he is doing and whether it is good for the city of Largo."

Quote from: HolmesI said he should be fired because he kept this a secret. The only issue is what he is doing and whether it is good for the city of Largo.
So, at what point must a GID individual disclose so as not for it to be a disqualifying 'secret'? I'd like to see this written into the employment applications -- "Are you now, or have you ever been GID?"
(Elmer Fudd voice:)
"Shhh, be vewwy, vewwy quiet -- I'm hunting twannies -- HuHuHuHuHuh..."

There is so much wrong with this whole situation. From the pronouns to the demonstrations to the species comment. I truly hope that Stanton asks for a public hearing just to educate the public on all of this. And the words of this Holmes clown identify him as a total moron. If he knew anything about GID he would know why it was kept under wraps as it was. Stanton is being so brave. I hope someone else hires her and she gets a raise.

Does anyone know yet if she's going to appeal?
Today (thursday) is the deadline, and I haven't seen anything in the news or blogs yet :(
