A reader writes: "I am 17 and transitioning and I wanted to ask you about parents. When I was younger, as often happens, my mum thought I would tell her anything and everything. She thought she was my best friend.
"Since I came out to her (more than a year later than I did to my dad, which I know hurt her), I have moved out and things have become difficult between us. She doesn't want to be the close, best-friend figure she always wanted to be before she knew.
