Title: A whimiscal question from an MTF to all you on an FTM journey
Post by: Beverley on December 06, 2011, 11:38:33 AM

I do not mean to be rude or disrespectful, so please do not take this wrongly.
Today I was having a laser session to REMOVE facial and body hair and I was wondering - how many of you in an FTM transition are looking forward to shaving your face every day or growing an itchy beard?
It was an idle thought that occurred to me whilst I was being zapped. I hope nobody is offended by my little whimsy.

Yup, I'd like some facial hair, if only to annoy my father and grandfather. And because shaving's cool, but I just don't have anything to shave off.

My sweety gets absolutely giddy when I point out how scruffy ze is getting.
But shaveing is not on Sevans list of favorite activities. It removes the beard ze is so happy to have.

I cannot wait to STOP shaving.
Swap facial skin? :P
Shaving underarms and legs is a nightmare, it's all in awkward places which are impossible to shave without cutting. Are you even supposed to shave behind your knees?

Actually, hair is one of the effects that I'm not looking forward to. I'm already pretty hairy, and I've been shaving regularly since my mid-teens. I'm also not big on the look of most facial hair. However, I do love the fact that I could grow a beard, and the look and feel of a couple of days' worth of stubble is pretty nice.

I don't have much going on in the facial hair department yet, but I do shave off the handful of hairs I have a few times a week. I wouldn't say I look forward to it exactly, but it makes me feel like I'm doing something that the average adult man does, which is nice. I am looking forward to when/if I can grow a real beard and cover up my baby face. On the flip side, I used to HATE having to shave my legs. It was a time consuming pain in the ass. Having to shave your face seems much better in comparison.

Not offended by an innocent question.
I can't wait til I can grow facial hair. It can't come fast enough. I'm a man so why would that idea be anything other than desirable?
I don't think not having facial hair makes me less of a guy, but it makes me less of... me. I feel incomplete and dysphoric.

tbh, I'm still not sure if I'll ever transition but I love the idea of having facial hair. Stubble! A beard! :D Just thinking about it makes me happy, haha.
Funnily enough, I'm super hairy everywhere else and I absolutely abhor shaving, I never do it. But I'm pretty sure I'd feel differently if it was facial hair and not general body hair.

I'll have a refund then :P

I am, unfortunately, an expert with a razor. I have had decades of practice at not slicing my nose off. Underarms are not even hard enough to be in "shaving 101" for me.
No. I wax that bit off. You, on the other hand are not supposed to shave anywhere below the neck - I am sure it is part of the deal. At least it was part of MY deal until I tore up the contract.

Daymn, I never thought about waxing... just stopped shaving it ;D until I started playing 'girls' rugby and had to wear shorts, and remembered I got bullied for not shaving when I joined that school >:( but I'm back in trackies now ;D

I love facial hair, I can't wait till I can grow a beard. At the moment I have sideburns and hair under my chin, it's patchy so I normally shave but I wanted to see what it would look like a bit longer so haven't shaved for a couple of weeks, it's pretty itchy at the moment so i'm contemplating shaving it off, I enjoy shaving. If it wasn't patchy and I could grow a beard i'd just put up with the itchiness.

My beard does not itch, and I don't shave daily. I trim weekly. I'm glad I no longer shave legs and pits. Shaving a face, should I do that, is a lot less area to shave than legs and pits! Oh and bikini area!

I love having facial hair. I trim and also shave my neck. If I never had to shave again, that would be awesome. But I think I'd look funny after a while.

No offense taken! It's always fun to hear someone's opinion. Frankly, I can't imagine someone wanting to shave their legs, but I am horribly lazy and I have pretty meaty legs so it used to take me forever. :D
I don't think I want to be a hairy guy, but my partner has awesome facial hair and I get jealous sometimes. Though, his is thick enough that even after shaving he has a five o'clock shadow always. I think I want the experience, but I will probably stay freshly shaven. Though, I have to say there are a few beard styles I would try out if my hair ever grows in. I have heard that genetics plays a part in hair growth, and my dad isn't very hairy. Though, he had an ugly mustache for the longest time.
What I don't want is the bum hair.

I'm actually not looking forward to it. I like how smooth and hairless I am for the most part now. I'm going to dread having to shave everything, not just my face @_@. In the future, I actually would like laser hair removal for my body hair. If not, then I'm going to be spending an ass-load of money on razors for the rest of my life XP. Unless I get a straight-edge razor, though that's not convenient for everywhere XP.

every time i see a new hair on my chin or lip I get excited, and i wish i had enough to have to shave it everyday.
If I shave mine it takes about a week too come back, and its weak hair too

I rarely shave my face anymore, thanks to laser and stuff, but I need to every once in a while and I hate it and make a mess. I usually cut myself and feel stupid. I did this morning and cried. It was a bad day anyway and didn't get better.

I'm looking forward to getting more facial hair. Right now it's still in the "peach fuzz" stage... It would be awesome to have a goatee ;D But I don't think I'd look good with a beard.

I admit, facial hair is one thing I'm seriously not looking forward to it. I'm not particularly keen on it to begin with, so the thought of having to deal with it on myself, bleah.

I've always had a bit of a stache and that thing has alllways been itchy. Even when I used hair removed for a few years, that thing grew back itchy. The only other place mine gets annoying (granted, I'm not on T) are my invisible sideburns. Can't really see them, but they get all fuzzy and weird so I've always shaved them.

Still pre-t, but I've been shaving the peach fuzz off for about a year. I'm quite good at it now :) Like other guys here, though I don't have any "real" facial hair, shaving does make me feel like the man I am. And I can't wait to grow a chinstrap, and maybe a mustache (shouldn't have a problem with the mustache, thats where my hair grows in a lot NOW). Should also help make me look older for once ;D

Gosh do I have a hard time reading these posts - after hundreds of laser and electrolysis sessions.
No idea if you can appreciate what I'm saying and the amount of pain I had to put up with to date, with NO END in sight as yet...
This can be one of the worst and most ongoing things for us MtFs... and no light at the end of the tunnel.
Enough said, sniff
Axélle
PS: BTW there is practically only white stubble left NO laser will 'see' with ongoing electrolysis every 3rd day! Grrrrrrr

Guys
If you want a nice experience get someone else to shave you. If you are OK with it go to a barbers shop and get them to do it. If not ask your girl/boy friend. If they are confident. It used to be the rich man's experience of getting your bath/shower going and getting the shoes polished and then the barber to get shaved. BTW lots of gangsters were killed being shaved >:-).
It is sort of like the female equivalent of having a facial, but guys tend to be more just do it and get it over with, but it is also advertised as a holiday gift here for your man.
Well if anyone is short of a gift idea?

Along with getting a lower voice (hopefully), the main thing I'm waiting to come along with testosterone is facial hair. :D I'm a total fool for goatees and sideburns so if I get lucky I'll grow those for myself.
I just hope my facial hair won't be too light in color despite of me being a natural blond...

And Tossu-sama I'm starting to get grey hairs on my head and I hope they don't come in on my face anytime soon. I think it would be too much of a weird clash with my baby face.
