Title: Killers of transgender people to get longer sentences
Post by: spacial on December 08, 2011, 08:11:23 AM
QuoteThe Home Office has announced longer jail sentences for murders motivated by hostility to a transgender person.

.............

In September this year Leon Fyle, 23, was jailed for life for the murder of Destiny Lauren, a pre-operative transgender person who worked as a prostitute.

The use of the term person is quite provokative from the BBC. If we ignore it, it could become a norm. If we mention it, we open ourselves up to oversensitivity.

'Are you saying this isn't a person?' sort of thing.

But nice to see this progress from the government. Also the recognition of some of the problems of transgender people.

Nah, wouldn't get out that early in any circumstance even on the 15 year sentence
