Well, yesterday I decided to just talk to the HR guy at the enginering company I work at. It's a small company of only about 14 people. I just needed to get it out in the open and see where the chips fell before I had a stroke from worry. Jason, the HR guy happens to be a openly gay fellow. He was very supportive and said he has had experence at another company dealing with transgendered people coming out at work. So we talked for a bit and I gave him a letter and supporting doc's, with a photo of Beni inside. He's knows of some support groups and a few transgendered people in the north bay area.
He said that a few of the guys would have problems, though I had already figured that out, but that the company would work with me and them on that. Of course, I have not had a one to one chat with the boss yet, but I know that they have been telling some of the people there. Today should be interesting, but I'm starting to think this might just go ok.
Today should be an interesting day.

Too cool. This is your most difficult hurdle. It will come off well for you. And then you'll wonder why you worried about it so much. Even if you have problems, you'll be able to deal with them.
You must let us know at the end of the day how it goes.

Congrads to you, and as Cindi said this is the hard part or at least one of them. My experience is that if it feels its going to be OK then it will be.

Well That went well!!! :)
I was just a wee bit worried this morning which may explain why I was up at 4 am this morning. But I had a good meeting with the boss, VP and HR guy. All were very supportive. Mike the Boss main worry was how to handle the transistion in the office with clients, etc. I do have some contact with clients, architects and contractors. Some of the contractors I worry about. well Ok almost all of them. Architects I'm not that worryed too much, as I talk architect pretty well.
Ok it was initally a rather stressful day, waiting for them to discuss my hum issues in the conference room. Had a long chat with mike at the end of the day, first of many many to come i'm sure. He's just a really nice guy, but totally clueless on how to process with telling the other employees, etc. I've ordered a few books on TG/TS office issues which I hope wll help, plus I see my therapist Saterday and hope she has some info I can take to Mike. I do plan on being on my best behavior anyway, just to make the transision as smooth as possible.
So all in all, a very good day. Still need to tell the rest of the employees. but I'm not too worried about that. Yes the hard part is done and it is a very great load off.
I'm a really happy girl tonight. I really love the company I'm working at. I've only been there 2 months. It's a fun place to work and everyone plays well with each other.

LOL, felt very much like skydiving or base jumping, seeing the ground come rushing forward, terrior starting to rise, only to stop falling as the chute fills, ah.
Not that I would every jump off a perfectly safe cliff.

I have jumped off perfectly safe cliffs. Actually, I ran off those cliffs. With a pair of wings strapped to my back, there is nothing in this world that will ever match that rush... knowing you are going to die in one instant and then feel the lift as the laws of physics snatch you up and give you flight. Adrenalin pumping, thoughts running wild, fear racing through my blood.... there is nothing in the world that has ever given me that wonderful feeling of conquering the worst that life has to offer.
Chin up!

I've thought of hand gliding, but this fear of heights I have, or rather a fear of the sudden stop at the end of the fall, hum prevented me from spreading my perverbial wings. But I do enough other interesting things so I still have fun.
Thank you so much ladies for just being there.
