Title: Variation in dilation schedules?

I see much variation in how often and how long one should dilate, and this seems to vary from surgeon to surgeon, and most probably on technique.
I had the standard scrotal inlay technique by James Bellringer in the UK and I was told to dilate three times a day for 15-20 minutes for the first two months. However, I know some people with American Surgeons, particularly Dr. McGinn, are required to dilate five times a day. I even know of one girl who was told to dilate SIX times a day for 40 minutes each! That's four times the amount of time dilating that I do!
Does anyone else have any other different dilation schedule? It would be interesting to hear what patients of other European surgeons such as Brassard do, or those in Thailand. Personally three a day for me has been sufficient and despite excruciating dilation initially and being unable to use the larger stent initially, doing dilation three times a day has allowed me to easily dilate to full depth with the largest stent. Anything more would seem excessive to me in my own personal case, but perhaps it's all dependent on the surgeon's technique.

Phuket Dr. Sanguan Kunaporn has 3 time a day for the first three month.
Have no idea actually what is to follow after that, and will need to find out now...
I ALWAYS need to start with #1 and then go through the motions up to #6.
Also, without any stent changes using #6 only would be pretty sore and kind of extra boring too...
I guess my next schedule be 2x a day using the same method - for the next 3 month?
Funny thing after being stretched out to 21/20" (#6) I notice always air getting trapped and causing fanny farts when without panties.
In any case, to dilate 5x - 6x a day for three month will hardly leave time for ANYTHING, after having cleaned up the dilators!? I have a pretty hard time to imagine such a schedule.
I often pass the time reading a book... then in place of 20 - 30 min I wind up easily at 1 hour per session!
.... just my story :-)

Yes, I agree that 5-6x a day seems to leave very little time for anything - even having one of the dilations in the middle of the day can be disruptive.
It seems that McGinn patients used to have to do it 6x a day, according to this blog at least - http://shesasty.com/2009/04/on-dilation.html (http://shesasty.com/2009/04/on-dilation.html)
Also, I'm puzzled about some people who have six or more different types of dilators? I only have two, and I don't need the smaller one now as I can insert the widest one to maximum depth without much problem. (Despite barely being able to do so with the smaller stent immediately post op!)

re stent sizes
I had penile inversion by Mr Bellringer too. CX give you two stents, 2.5cm and 3.0cm My best cis-friend and I thought that 3.0cm wasn't large enough, didn't seem to represent an average penis in our experience. I queried this at surgical follow-up which was done by Mr Thomas (you know they interchange and cover each others appts) and he said that 3.0 was suitable, was average size. ....... so therefore lots of guys are larger than that then! You know that you will only stretch approx half a centimeter more than the largest you have dilated to?
I had an extremely painful first dilation and pain and a real struggle for the first couple of months. I REALLY do not want to ever feel that pain again, especially during sex - so I bought the next two sizes in the range, 3.5 and 4.0cm. from the CX supplier.
As you know, the neovagina doesn't readily expand when you first penetrate it, so a guy would still have to push his way in and there would be sufficient friction/grip. We can squeeze the neovagina too. If it turned out to be much too slack, then I could drop the largest stent from my routine and the neovagina would shrink/heal to a tighter size. This is after all why we dilate, to stop shrinkage happening.
My personal choice was to make sure that I never hurt again like those early dilations.

I'm a Bowers girl and she has the same schedule as your dr. I dialted much more than she suggested meaning time wise. I took an applicator and shot lube IN my vagina as well as on the dilator. I would insert the dilator then put on panties to hold it in place while i washed dishes, put on makeup AND if i watched a movie on tv for 2 hrs i pretty much left it in there. I was at the largest dilator the 2nd week after surgery and i was having penetrable sex 6 wks later. Dilation wasnt a big issue for me since I work only 4 days a week and i woke up 2 hrs early anyway prior to work. I would go pee, start my coffee brush my teeth, lay down insert the dilator, get back under the covers and watch tv. 3 of those days i didnt dilate in the middle of the day, i just came hm from wk, did my evening routine, inserted the dilator and let is stay for an hr or more. Now i was turning it every 15 mins making sure it was still lubed well but some people just dont want to do it.
just realize that dilation will be a part of life. i am almost 2 yrs post and i have sex regularly with fairly large men in length and girth. I still dilate once every 2 weeks. I did it yesterday for the whole time i watched 2 episodes of law and order.
Our vaginas stretch more than people think. I met a man once who was HUGE andi was afraid BUT he took his time and it was as fat as a coke bottle (litterally) and about 81/2 inches long and he was used to women not being able to receive him and most run he told me but he took his time and within 10 mins he was fully inserted and i had NO PAIN OR DISCOMFORT WHATSOEVA! ALSO, he had NO CLUE that i was post operative.
My vagina also is HIGHLY lubricated and i have had 41 orgasms in 1 to 2 hrs before. So trust me u will be alright once YOU get to know your body but dilating 6 times a day is just ridiculous unless all drs do a different surgical technique OR they know most people dont stick to schedules well so they over regulate the times a day in case you falter which most people do but 3 times a day at 15 mins intervals or twice a day at LONGER intervals worked fine for me.

In my experience the 3.0cm seems average, but perhaps I'm biased because that's probably how much I used to be pre-op. How do you buy the larger stents from this "CX Supplier?" Is it online?

You put in the dilator and WASHED THE DISHES!?!? That's amazing, if I stood up, mine would just fall out even with panties on, as it wouldn't have the necessary pressure. You must have at least 7 or more inches depth for a large part of the dilator not to stick out as you left it there and went about doing things while dilating. Extraordinary!
I do agree though that three times a day or two longer sessions is sufficient - I have done 3 x 20 minute sessions and have no problems with immediately dilating with the largest stent.

My thoughts on that post exactly. And accommodating a Coke-bottle-size male... hello?!
What was the word? Extraordinary.
Most ggs I know would have one 'big' issue accommodating that sort of girth, eh!
So, practice makes perfect... go girls go :-)

Suporn girl here. :-)
* First 2 months, I did 2 times a day (was instructed to do 3 times a day)
* Month 3-6, 1 time a day 5 minutes at full depth (was intructed to do 2 times a day, 15-20 minutes at depth)
* Now at month 7, 3-4 times a week 5 minutes at full depth (am instructed to do once per day)
I've quite figured out my own dilation schedule, but can maintain depth and width easily.
