Title: Eye Lash Transplants
Post by: StaceyC on December 29, 2011, 06:12:14 PM
I just finished my hair transplant and i'm pretty happy thus far with the doctor and his procedure.  I noticed that he also does eye lash transplants.   Apparently similar to the hair grafts on my head, it is a transplant of natural hair (not sure where the donor area is).  And apparently they will continue to grow so you'd have to groom them once a month to keep them from getting too long.   Since natural ones are lacking a bit, i was wondering if anyone has had any experiences with this type of procedure?

I am quite familiar with hair transplants as I have researched them exhaustively... but not sure about eyelash transplants.

Falsies cost only like $1 in cheap Chinese stores, and you can wear them everyday until they wear out (usually in a month or so). Much cheaper to go this way. I love wearing 'em!

I haven't heard of them either, sounds sort of painful, and where do they get the hair from? You could end up with having to get them trimmed if they get too long

I did use a product that was supposed to enhance eye lash and eyebrow growth. I thought it was a gimmick but I tried it and it worked on me. It worked to such an extent that the technician who does my eyebrow shaping asked about it and started to use it herself.

If you are interested send me a PM and I'll give you the details, rather than start a spam.

Eye lashes can be fixed up with a bit of mascara, or if you feel inclined fake lashes. An eyelash transplant sound kinda pointless to me. ;/

Nah, "Lash Transplants" sounds like hokus-pokus to me, never ever heard that --- only from folks that got it mixed up with "stuck ons" - glued to your existing lashes one by one.

Those itch after a while and need constant maintenance like e.g. gel on nails. I had them taken off and will NEVER have that stuff again.

I then used "Lash Factor" and it makes your lashes grow pretty nicely - but TRANSPLANT?!
Sounds like a misunderstanding to me.

Oh Axelle-Michelle,

You spoil it.

I thought that they would transplant pubic hair follicles so you had curly eye lashes.
Mmm
Miffed

Gosh, ever so naughty now aren't ya?
In any case, how many of us have pubes left, I ask?!
During that last enquiry the vote went for bald all the way... makes you think, no.

So... use 'Lash Factor' my advise. And sorry for spoiling it. Really. :-)

The thought occurs that, even the most talented Dr can make mistakes.

A mistake on the eyelid, infection or something, you could end up without sight.

Seems a Heck of a risk for something that might not work and if it does, will need monthly maintence.

Have you guys not heard of Google?   :P
I put in "eye lash transplants" and got a bunch of hits, with pictures and info, so it's not vapourware

I don't fancy the idea of eyelashes that need trimming, because part of the appeal of eyelashes is their profile, which is to come to a very fine point - and trimmed eyelashes would just look blocky, I think.

Bear in mind i'm not considering it at this point in time (one of my goals this year is to dig out of debt     )...  But the same doc that did my hairline does eyelashes as well.  I am not sure where the eye lash donor area is ... perhaps the back of the head.  And it is definitely a transplant with live hairs since you may have to "trim" them from time to time as they will continue to grow.  My concern is what would they look like if you forgot to trim them or could due to an accident etc.  But it sounds like it is definitely a transplant, not a falsies.
