Sorry, GLAAD — ABC Entertainment topper Paul Lee doesn't get why you have issues with Work It.
While talking to reporters at the annual Television Critics Tour in Pasadena today, Lee said he was stumped by a campaign from the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) and the Human Rights Campaign that accuses the cross dressing comedy of being harmful to transgenders. "I didn't really get it," he said. "I loved Tootsie. I still love Tootsie. I didn't get it. But that's probably me."

LOS ANGELES Jan 10 (TheWrap.com) - ABC president Paul Lee said Tuesday that he didn't understand complaints from lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender activists about ABC's new cross-dresssing comedy "Work It."
Speaking to reporters at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, Lee said he was proud of ABC's portrayal of gay and lesbian characters and compared the sitcom, which debuted to middling ratings, to the 1982 comedy "Tootsie."

We've had some conversations here about Work It, perhaps the most puzzling new show of 2012. But when asked about an ad that called about the fact that the show doesn't appear to recognize that transgender people face substantial risks were the gender they were born with to be revealed, ABC entertainment president Paul Lee's answer was...unfortunate.

Head of ABC 'Doesn't Get' Why Work It Is History's Worst Show

It has been scientifically established that ABC's men-dressing-as-women-to-get-jobs sitcom Work It is the worst television program in history. Still ABC Entertainment chief Paul Lee doesn't understand why it's so bad or why some people—gay and transgender activists, specifically—find it offensive.
Here's what he said today at the Television Critics Association conference. When asked about GLAAD and HRC's big push against the show he said, "I didn't really get it. I loved Tootsie. I still love Tootsie. I didn't get it. But that's probably me."
