Title: finger Phalloplasty - did you know about it?

I just see this on web when I was chatting with my ftm friend. (http://www.kuzanov.net/services/phalloplasty.html)
Do you know it?
They make it from finger (amusing idea)

Worth it just for the alarm clock photo.

... Wow. I'd freely give my penis away if it meant that a FtM guy could use it. Just ... Wow.

I've seen that site before. Why is this amusing to you? Not many people go this route. It's certainly not the only phallo option out there.

To me it just seems one of the available viable options. It was only the photo with the alarm clock that I found amusing.

it would suck to lose a finger, but for some I can see it being preferable to a graft scar on the arm. A missing finger can easily be explained away.

I never said it was amusing. Quite the opposite.

Sorry, but the OP said "They make it from finger (amusing idea)". I wasn't trying to say that you thought it was amusing.

No, but it sums why I don't think I will be getting bottom surgery. At least not for a very, very long time. Don't why it's funny though (to OP).

How interesting and quite impressive. Before I looked I assumed that the finger was donated, obviously from a donor before they died, (but I suppose a penis could be donated then too). It's a bit drastic losing your own finger, but it's a decision I'm sure they thought long and hard about.

I wonder if it could be done with a finger donor.
I also really don't get why some people think it's *that* bad. I mean, I'd rather have all my fingers, and I won't go for phallo anyway, but for some people it seems like a really good choice given all that's currently available. It's just a finger; I don't really think missing a finger means much in the face of missing something much more integral to one's identity. And quite a few people think even MTF surgery is 'awful' and horrifying, but it's saved lives.

That is a pretty darn good option, if I say so myself. The size of it is very credible, and to have a fully functional penis for just the loss of one finger would be a good trade, if I wanted a penis (and they remake your hand into a "Simpsons" three-finger hand (I had thought there'd be a gap between pointer and ring finger))...the rigidity is "useable", but not quite the rock-hard that a cis-man would have.
I'd give a "thumbs up" to it, but I don't want that to be lopped off... :D
Kinda gives a new meaning to having a "boner", eh?

I wonder if it could be done with a finger donor.
This would bring on all the awful array of drugs necessary for anti-rejection - it's much harder to get the body to accept someone else's tissue, even when it's a good match. It's hugely more straightforward to use your own tissue, from that point of view.

Did I know about it? No, and now I wish I didn't, I find using the third finger disturbing but also strangely hilarious. ???

I know this is old but I had to say sommat.
I was aware of it due to a friend who has an uncanny ability to know really random stuff.
Frankly I really want bottom surgery but NO WAY would I give up my finger for a penis...
I just couldn't do it...besides I'd probably just spend the rest of my life thinking of it AS my finger. I dont think i'd ever really be able to get away from that and just think of it as a penis.

That is so cool. I did not know about it, but honestly haven't looked much into phalloplasty really. Looks like we'll be in the pioneering stages of it for awhile yet.

I heard about something similar done with a cismale on Ripley's years ago. The guy said urination was exteremly painful to him. As much as I want a weiner I would like to hold it properly with all fingers attached so I will have to pass. I hope something improves within the next 10 years.

Dear Lord! Sorry boys, if I could give you mine, I would, I truly would. I have a problem with this one mainly because the alien hand afterwards would end up being a dead giveaway that you had it done. And I think it's strangely creepy yet neat that they can do that. But then again I am MtF, so I can't fathom how much of a need there is for a penis when I don't even want to look at what I have right now.
If you take this route, I can't argue that you don't have some 'big stones', as they say.
Not being insensitive, just...wow.

I just nearly choked and died on a cup of tea from laughing at that.
Not a bad way to go though I suppose.
Yeah I wouldn't like the alien hand afterwards, besides I'm left handed but do a lot of things with my right. (they never cater for lefties) so whatever hand they took it from I would be stuck.

Don't think use a lot of it in MtF SRS? You might want to reconsider that. ;)
They are growing ears on the backs of mice. I still believe that transitioning medical technology will advance dramatically in the near future. The singularity is on its way. I have no doubt that some day, fully transitioning will become as casual as stopping by the salon for a haircut. People who aren't very trans at all will do it just to try things out from the other side. It will likely be commonplace to ask someone what their birth gender was just out of curiosity and it won't even be rude to do so because it will be such a common thing.

That's probably the most barbaric thing I've ever seen. I don't need a penis to be a man, and I certainly don't need it anywhere NEAR enough to mutilate myself like that. Yuck.

My favourite aspect of this is still the "hanging alarm clocks, jugs of milk, etc. off it to show how sturdy it is" photos on the website. ;D Made my day when I saw that.

Not only do they get a permanent boner, but they can join the cast of the Simpsons.
Autografts are amazing things, I once saw some slides of early plastic surgery done post World War II for servicemen who had severe burns. Not for the squeamish.
50 years from now they may understand enough to be able to activate/deactivate gene sequences and grow body parts from some sort of goop.
